Mariano Morales rapes a homeless woman while she holds her baby.

05/01/2008 -- Austin Police arrested a man they say sexually assaulted a homeless woman while her 2-year-old daughter slept in her arms.

46-year-old Mariano Morales is charged with sexual assault. APD says Morales found the victim sleeping behind the Central Christian Church at 12th and Guadalupe on April 20. Detectives say the woman awoke to Morales raping her, and her 2-year-old daughter woke up as the woman struggled with Morales.

If convicted, Morales could get between 2-20 years in prison.
