The victim is an eleven-year-old girl. To protect the identity of the victim, Florida Statute 119.071(3) (f) prohibits the release of any further information about her.
What: Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children detectives arrested a Clearwater man after a three week investigation for sexual battery on a child under 12 years-of-age.
Where: Grubbs met with detectives at the Pinellas County Jail, 14400 49th Street North, Clearwater FL., and was taken into custody. The sexual battery occurred at the suspect’s residence 14954 56th Street North, Clearwater FL.
When: The sexual battery occurred over a three year period starting when the victim was five-years-old. Grubbs was arrested Friday, June 11, 2010 at 4:40 p.m.
How/Why:
After a three week investigation Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children detectives arrested a Clearwater man for sexual battery on a child under 12 years-of-age. The investigation began in early May when the victim, now eleven-years-old, disclosed to her father she had been sexual molested by the suspect, Anthony Grubbs.
According to detectives the abuse took place over a three year period, starting when the victim was five-years-old, and ending at around age eight. Grubbs, who is known to the victim, was able to gain access to the child through a family member. He was able to be alone with the child at his residence, and it is then the sexual battery would occurred.
Through their investigation detectives were able to develop probable cause to make an arrest today Friday, June 11, 2010 at 4:40 p.m. Further details about the investigation cannot be released to protect the victim’s identity, and the investigation is still open and ongoing.
Although it is not believed Grubbs, a carpet installer and welder, had access to other children detectives would be interested to speak with anyone who might have additional information. They are asked to contact Det. Brian Briguglio at 727-582-6200.
