Lynda Meier missing. 2 women caught using her credit cards.

Police have identified and interviewed two women who they say used a missing woman's credit card, but the development has not revealed the whereabouts of Lynda Robin Meier, officials said Friday.

Meier, 40, was last seen the afternoon of June 4 driving away from her Hallandale Beach condo building in her red 2007 Cadillac Escalade, Florida tag LI7DA.

Police learned that a day after Meier's family reported her missing, a surveillance camera recorded two women using Meier's credit card at a Wal-Mart near Miami Lakes.

Officials on Friday identified the women as Jessica Morales, 24, of Opa-locka, and Susan Panchoo, 23, of Miami.

Police wouldn't say what information the women had or how they acquired Meier's credit card.

The women have not been charged in the investigation, said Hallandale Beach police Capt. Sonia Quinones.

Lynda Meier, 40, was last seen leaving her home in the 18 hundred block of Ocean Drive on Friday, June 4th, and driving off in her red 2007 Cadillac Escalade with chrome wheels. Police say surveillance cameras captured Meier leaving her condo at 5:17 a.m.

On Monday Hallandale police Major Dwayne Flournoy said an Opa Locka police patrol officer later discovered Meier's SUV abandoned in a parking lot in the city.

"Foul play is now considered a fact in her disappearance," said Flournoy.

A day after she went missing two unidentified women seen in a surveillance recording at a Wal-Mart store in Miami Lakes using one of Meier's credit cards. Flournoy said both women were picked up and were interviewed but no charges have been filed. He added that they women told police who gave them the card. Flournoy said are looking into a 'person of interest' in this case but refused to name them fearing it would hamper their efforts to solve this case.

Flournoy said the reward money offered in the case has been increased to $26 thousand.

"I can barely breathe, eat, sleep or anything. I'm worried for my daughter. I can't believe something like this has happened," said Meier's mother Phylis Meier. "I feel like a piece of my body is missing. We're desperate to find her and we need everybody's help."

Meier said ever since Lynda disappeared she's felt helpless.

"I don't know what to do. I'm staying by the phone, maybe somebody will call, maybe she'll call, maybe somebody will call with some information. I can't leave my house," said Meier. "I can't breathe. "She's a part of my life, I spoke to her several times a day. I just don't know what happened."

"I haven't slept in days, I feel violated," said Lynda's twin brother Eric Meier. "It's just a lot of pain. We just want her back."

The brother of missing Hallandale Beach woman Lynda Robin Meier went on Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti's weekly radio show to plead for information about her case.

"I have to believe that somebody out there knows something about this disappearance," Eric Meier said on the All Points Bulletin show on WWNN 1470 AM on Sunday.

"She is my twin sister and we have a very close bond," Meier said. "Everybody is devastated. I haven't slept in weeks."

    Human Bones Found In Everglades
Police Investigate After Skeletal Remains Found
BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. -- Police are investigating the discovery of human remains in the Everglades on Monday morning.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said dispatchers received a call reporting the discovery of the skeletal remains near U.S. 27's mile marker 47.
"We received a call from a vacationer that was actually returning home from Pioneer. He stopped by on this small roadway on the west side of U.S. 27 to urinate. He finished doing what he had to do, drove down the roadway, turned around and as he exited, he noticed a patch of the grass that seemed to be flattened," said Keyla Concepcion, of BSO.
    [...]
The bones were located about halfway down a small access road from U.S. 27 to a tower in a remote, rural part of western Broward County.

Investigators discovered some clothing with the skeleton. Police have not been able to determine whether the person was male or female.

A BSO helicopter landed on U.S. 27 and picked up a crime scene photographer so that they could take pictures of the scene from the air.

Investigators said it could take a long time to identify the remains.

Detectives from various departments with open missing-person cases will compare notes with BSO. Hallandale Beach detectives said they would touch base with investigators at the scene. They have been searching for 40-year-old Lynda Meier, who disappeared on June 4.

Holy mother, I didn't even know about this and I am IN Broward County.

Seeing where they are, it might very well just be Meier.
BUT... I also wonder if it's my missing friend Terrill Girard. (Not likely, though.)

2 Sought In Missing Woman Case
$51,000 Reward Offered For Info In Lynda Meier Disappearance
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- Police have released surveillance images of two people of interest in the disappearance of a Hallandale Beach woman.

Lynda Meier, 40, has not been seen since June 4, when surveillance cameras captured video of her leaving her Hallandale Beach building at 5:17 a.m.
Investigators said video showed Meier using an ATM at a Bank of America in the 800 block of east Hallandale Beach Boulevard at 5:27 a.m. Video from another camera showed Meier's Cadillac Escalade moving west on Hallandale Beach Boulevard a minute later.

On the same day Meier was last seen, a man wearing a hood and dark glasses held a white cloth over his mouth as he tried to make a withdrawal from a bank in northern Miami-Dade County using Meier's card. Later that day, at a different bank in central Miami-Dade, another man tried to do the same.

"It's clear to us that they knew what they were doing and how to disguise themselves," said Dwayne Fluornoy, of the Hallandale Beach Police Department.

Police released surveillance images of the two men, whom they called people of interest, Tuesday morning.

"There is a possibility that she may know some of the people involved in her disappearance," Fluornoy said.

Detectives said they have interviewed several people, including two women who used Meier's credit cards at a Walmart store the day after she was last seen.

"I'm pleading for her. I'm pleading for someone to come out with information to help us find her," said Meier's mother, Phylis Meier.

Meier's mother said she had been concerned with some of the people her daughter was hanging around with.

"But Lynda always had a very kind heart and she was a very giving person," Phylis Meier said.

Meier's Cadillac Escalade was found abandoned in an Opa-Locka parking lot on June 13.

"We may be looking at more than a missing persons case," Fluornoy said.

I emailed a reporter who covered one of these stories and asked him if there was going to be any kind of search party.
    None are planned.
I told him to feel free to pass my number onto the family in case they decided to search themselves.
This was yesterday, I have heard nothing yet.

Police Hoping For A Break In Missing Woman Case
Phylis Meier has been in a living hell for nearly 4 months now. On June 4th her daughter Lynda disappeared after leaving her beachside condo in Hallandale at 5:17 in the morning. Surveillance video showed her at an ATM, then driving through the intersection of US1 and Hallandale Beach Blvd; from there she just disappeared.

"I look out my windows, (and say) 'Where are you'," Meier told CBS4's Ted Scouten. "I sit in my kitchen, 'Where are you out there? Send me a sign, call somebody'."

So far the police have as few signs as Meier to point them in the right direction. Here's what they know. On the day she disappeared two men used her ATM card at banks in the northern and central sections of Miami-Dade County. In each case, their faces were covered and not captured on security cameras. Investigator would like to talk with these men. Also, two women were interviewed by police after they were caught using Lynda Meier's credit cards. Investigators said they got their biggest break in the case so far from the women – the location of Meier's SUV.

Meier's red Cadillac Escalade was found in the parking lot of an Opa Locka apartment complex. Residents of the complex told police the SUV would come and go, with men getting in and out of it, but that's all they can remember.

"Did anyone ever see the girl, was there ever any talk about a woman," Scouten asked one of the residents who did not wish to be identified in this story.

"No, no, we just thought it was a stolen car," said the woman.

Police said while the case is considered 'very active' their leads are drying up. However, detectives investigating it vow they'll one day figure out what happened to Meiers.

"Those that are responsible will be held accountable," vowed Hallandale Police Major Dwayne Flournoy. "And those that assisted those who are responsible will also be held accountable. It may take a little longer, but their day is coming. "

Meanwhile, Lynda's mom is hoping and praying, like only a mom can.

"I want her alive and I'm praying for a miracle."

Did Lynda Robin Meier's relationship with a younger man have anything to do with her disappearance on June 4?

Though Antwan Kennedy, 26, has not been charged, police have identified him as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation into the whereabouts of the Hallandale Beach woman. They said Meier, 40, had known and befriended Kennedy, a talented athlete from a rough part of Miami, since he was 13.

They also said Kennedy, of Miramar, an ex-convict on probation for aggravated battery, is the last person known to have spoken with Meier. Police have repeatedly interviewed him and his friend Dallas King, 28, of Opa-locka, who also has a criminal record.
    ....
He (Kennedy) became a star football player at Booker T. Washington High in Miami before going on to attend Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. His college career ended in 2003 when a conviction for injuring three students with a pellet gun sent him to prison, according to the Daily Item newspaper of Sunbury, Pa.

Meier's friends said they did not know exactly how Meier met Kennedy. But police said she met him in the 1990s as part of her independent effort to help several disadvantaged children in Miami's Overtown community.
    ......
Meier left her condo at 5:17 a.m. and, 10 minutes later, withdrew money from a drive-through ATM at a Bank of America branch in Hallandale Beach. A minute later, she drove her red 2007 Cadillac Escalade west on East Hallandale Beach Boulevard. She has not been seen since.

In those 11 minutes before Meier vanished, she talked by phone with Kennedy, making him the last person Meier spoke to, police said.

Police say King sometime afterward obtained Meier's debit and credit cards. Two men were viodetaped trying to use the cards the same day at bank ATMs in Miami-Dade. Police believe King was one of them, but haven't said who the other might be.

King gave Meier's cards to two women, who police found and interviewed after they used them at a Walmart near Miami Lakes, police said.

Search For Missing Woman's Remains Resumes
Investigators Say Information Led Them To Canal To Find Lynda Meier's Remains

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Investigators from several police agencies, including the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, resumed their search of the Snake Creek Canal in Miami Gardens Tuesday for evidence in the case of a South Florida woman missing for more than a year.
The canal is located at Northwest 41st Street and 207th Avenue.
According to investigators, the search is in connection with the disappearance of Lynda Robin Meier. A source told Local 10's Jeff Weinsier that they are looking for Meier's remains. Special cadaver dogs were brought in to help in the search.
"Leads, as well as evidence and intelligence and new information has led us to this location to conduct a search for the remains of Lynda Meier," said Chief Dwayne Flournoy of Hallandale Beach Police.

"The information that led us here has been developed ever since Lynda Meier disappeared," said Special William Arnone of the FDLE. "It's been bits and pieces that have been put together that suggest we come here and do what we're doing."
"We have located some areas of interest that we're going to look into further," Flournoy said. "I'm confident that we will solve this case."

Investigators also say they have new information, but they won't say what it is.
The 40-year-old woman was last seen as she left her home in the 1800 block of South Ocean Drive in Hallandale Beach on June 4, 2010.
The next day, police said two unidentified women used Meier's Mastercard at a Walmart store in the 5800 block of Northwest 177th Street in Miami Lakes.

Police said that Dallas King and Antwan Kennedy remain the main suspects Meier's disappearance.
Last Thursday, Hallandale Beach police released some new specifics in the case, confirming that on June 4, 2010, the morning Meier was last seen, King was in possession of her credit cards and gave them to two women, who investigators said were caught using them at the Walmart.

Police say information they received during their investigation led them to the canal.
King told police the credit cards were given to them by Kennedy, who has been romantically linked to Meier.

Kennedy told Local 10 he did have a conversation with Meier the morning she disappeared, but he said he has no idea where she is or what happened to her.
Police said they do not believe Meier is alive, but they have not found her body.
"I learned yesterday on the news that they were searching possibly for her remains and I fell apart," Meier's friend, Sharon Moses-Solano, told Local 10's Kelly Butler on Tuesday.

She said she was hopeful that Meier would be found alive, but now that hope has faded.
"Nobody can ever prepare you for horrible news. I can't believe that this has hit home," she said.
Moses-Solano says the last year without her close friend has been painful.
"I think of her all the time," she said. "Where could she be? Who could have hurt her?"
Investigators say it will take about a week to search the area.
