A South Valley mother is accused of child abuse after deputies say she and her young children were found living in deplorable conditions.
Bernalillo County deputies checked the home of 30-year-old Francine Douglas as part of "Operation Safe Child."
Douglas lives at the home near Isleta and Arenal in Southwest Albuquerque with three children ages one, two, and three.
CYFD had referred deputies to the home six months ago.
“Unfortunately,” said APD Detective Santiago Roybal, ”Yesterday when we went out to the home, things had deteriorated instead of getting any better, despite the help they had received from CYFD."
Deputies say there were cockroaches in every room, clothes and trash scattered throughout the home, and toilets that hadn't been flushed. They say the children were dressed in dirty clothes.
