Santa Cruz Police Say They Also Found Drugs When They Located Dad
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. --
Santa Cruz police seeking the parents of a toddler who was spotted walking naked and alone ultimately found her father -- and narcotics and drug paraphernalia, officers said.
Police got a call at about 12:30 p.m. on Monday about the 2-year-old girl ambling down Barson Street without clothes, police said. A neighbor took her in and gave her a blanket, police said.
An officer determined that the girl lived at a home in the 200 block of Jessie Street. The officer took the child to the house and found her father, Antonio Villa, 25, of Santa Cruz, police said.
A second officer arrived. While talking to Villa, they noticed that he was trying to conceal something, which they soon found to be hypodermic syringes, spoons, baggies and what was believed to be heroin, police said.
Officers also found another child sleeping near the drugs, police said.
Villa was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment. He was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
