Glendale Police and firefighters responded to a bizarre and frightening situation at the Baymont Inn. Police say when they arrived a suicidal woman was screaming outside in the street and a two-year-old child was fighting for his life.
Around 5:30 p.m.
the woman announced to her sister and mother she would kill the two-year-old and herself. The woman held true to her promise by trying to kill her two-year-old in the tub, and trying to kill herself immediately after she thought her child was dead.
Will Labry Jr. says he saw
a woman drenched in water, and nearly nude carrying a child walking through the hall of the Baymont Inn. "She just gave me the baby and was yelling and screaming and going out the door."
That woman unexpectedly passed a two-year-old child to Labry and kept on walking into the street.
A search warrant says first responders were concerned the child might have drowned in a bathtub. Labry says he used to work as a Nurse's Assistant and fortunately has experience in CPR. "I check to see if he was breathing then I opened his mouth did a finger sweep ya know, then white stuff came out. Then I picked him up and started burping him, and water started coming out."
While the Inn guests learned the child began breathing again, the scene outside was far from calm. According to the search warrant
the almost nude woman attempted to jump onto one of the responding fire trucks near Silver Spring and Port Washington Rd. After the woman struggled to take an officers firearm, she was tased and arrested.
Court documents say the woman is bi-polar. Family members told investigators last month she said I'm going to have to kill myself, and my child.
