This is just pitiful. :(
Authorities have located the body of a man who had been missing from a Thunderbolt nursing home for two weeks. He may have been at the facility the entire time.
WSAV told you about 79-year-old Walter Heath when he first disappeared. Police say he had lived at the Tara at Thunderbolt facility since February.
Family members tell us he loved walking near Forsyth Park and just enjoyed the outdoors. So they thought something happened to him during one of his walks. But around 10:55 this morning workers at the nursing home found Heath's body in a utility closet. Police can't tell us how big the closet is or how long heath's been there.
"The nursing home indicated they had searched that room prior to today and the police department and fire department assisted on the day that Mr. Heath was reported missing in a grounds search," says Thunderbolt Police Chief Irene Pennington.
Police tell us there's no sign of foul play at this time but an autopsy will be performed.
