Sandra Stanton Accused Of Fracturing Infant’s Skull

Sorry cant find pics yet unless DV can work her magic and find some lol

A Kansas City woman has been charged with child abuse for allegedly fracturing her infant daughter’s skull.

Jackson County prosecutors also charged Sandra V. Stanton, 30, with first-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Stanton called an ambulance to her home in the 1800 block of Askew Avenue on Thursday after she said she woke up and realized the baby, who was born May 2, was not breathing, according to court documents.

The baby began breathing again but was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital, where doctors discovered the skull fracture and bleeding in her brain, the court documents.

I don't know what happened here, but I can say I have always been scared to death around babies (I've never had any but my brother and sister and many others I know have). The are SO TINY, and they have this little tender spot atop their heads (I forget what they call it) which enables their head to grow larger before the skull becomes completely, I don't know... grown.

They always want me to hold them, and I am always nervous to. I will do it, briefly, but I am terrified I could drop the baby. My SIL once told me, don't worry - they bounce! - she was joking, of course, but that didn't really help allay my concern.

I was on a plane once and the woman in front of me had a newborn that developed an earache. That baby was screaming louder than 3 adults in full throat could muster in their worst terror. Passengers all about the plane were starting to get unruly and make astonishingly rude remarks (I came very close at one point to standing up and telling them to STFU). Even the Stewardesses were mad at the woman for bringing the baby on the flight (I don't think she knew the baby would develop an earache). I just tuned it out and read my book like it was nothing.

I remember a case in Texas where a guy couldn't stand his girlfriend's baby crying, so he shook the baby trying to make the baby stop. It 'joggled' the baby's brain somehow and now the baby will never, ever, develop further in life than the age the baby was when he shook him (an infant). The baby will grow to full-size adulthood, but will always have to be cared for in some kind of facility/home as though he were an infant, never even able to potty train or anything - language, walking, feeding oneself; always an infant. What a HORRIBLE thing to do to another human being (he got life in prison). I have a hard time reading the baby stories.

According to police, Stanton told authorities that she had fallen asleep with the child in her arms, and woke up to find the child on the carpet, not breathing. She told police her other children, a 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old boy were there in the house as well.

Later that day, officers were called to the hospital where they were told the child had two skull fractures, retinal hemorrhages, and bleeding on the brain. According to the probable cause statement, a social worker told police that Stanton had told her that she the only adult in the house with the children.

Police arrested Stanton the next day. She told police she had only one beer between 8 & 9am, and had taken Zoloft around noon. Later, officers say that she admitted to have two "tall beers" starting around 5pm, and that she was drunk and passed out. She told police she regularly drinks about two tall beers a day.

Stanton has denied causing any of the injuries to the child. She is currently in custody in the Jackson County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash-only bond.

Woman convicted in death of 3-week-old daughter

A Kansas City woman has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the death last year of her 3-week-old daughter.

A Jackson County jury on Thursday also found Sandra V. Stanton, 30, guilty of endangering the welfare of a child and child abuse.

Stanton, who had prior drug and illegal weapons convictions and was on probation at the time, testified that she had been drinking and went to sleep on May 27.

When she woke up, she said, her 3-year-old was holding her infant daughter, Destiny Farnch, who was blue and gasping for breath.

The baby was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital, where doctors determined she had suffered a severe head injury. She was declared dead about a week later.

Medical experts testified that it would be virtually impossible for a small child to have inflicted the kind of injuries suffered by Destiny. Stanton testified that she had been the only adult in the house that day.

According to the Missouri Department of Corrections, Stanton was released from custody March 30, after being sentenced to a 120-day substance abuse treatment program.

Sentencing for Stanton is scheduled for May 27

When I had Little bad I was terrified to sleep let alone drink for WEEKS! No one was allowed to smoke around her and you had to wash your hands before I would let you hold her when she was very little.

    WTF gets into people???

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

I fell asleep once while breast-feeding my oldest daughter in the middle of the night. I was dead-tired (and no drinking OR drugs) and did something I didn't normally do. I turned on my side and put her to the breast right in the bed next next to me. When I woke up later, I was scared to death and my heart was pounding out of my chest b/c I realized what I had done.

She was fine. She had nestled in next to me, and when she lost the boob she just attached herself to my side and suckled her way happily back to sleep. I had the hickey from hell on my side for a few days but I never took a chance and did that again, no matter how tired I was. I MADE myself get up and sit up with her while she fed.

Now, all that rambling on is done, but all I really wanted to say is that I don't believe one iota of this bitch's story. And for her to blame her other small child shows just WHO her priority is.... HERSELF.

Mother gets 20-year sentence in daughter’s death

A Jackson County judge sentenced a woman to 20 years in prison Friday, a year to the day after her young daughter suffered a head injury and subsequently died.

A jury had convicted Sandra V. Stanton, 31, in March of second-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child and child abuse resulting in death. She maintained that one of her other two children must have injured 3-week-old Destiny Farnch after Stanton passed out from having too much to drink.

Medical experts testified that it would be virtually impossible for a small child to have inflicted the kind of head injuries that Destiny suffered.

Assistant Jackson County Prosecutor Trisha Lacey asked for a sentence of up to 30 years.

“Rather than take responsibility for her actions, she blamed a 3-year-old and a 2-year-old,” Lacey said.

Defense lawyer Jeffrey Alan Gedbaw asked for a 15-year term.

My sons crib was next to my bed when he was a baby, his favorite thing to do when he was about 8 or 9 months was to stand holding onto the side of his crib and bounce up and down, one day he flipped himself over the side of his crib and landed on his head on the floor, he didnt have a broken skull, no damage was done, thank god, thats how I know that it takes a lot of force to break a babys skull, another time my five year old climbed into a tree and fell on his head, he had a huge knot on his forehead, black and blue, but he also was ok, this shaking and beating shit, doctors can tell so easily... why do they even try to lie?
