Timothy and Haley Covey arrested after detective almost vomits

No mugs so you have to put up with these example pictures... which are very tame compared to the descriptions in the article.
All six children had lice in their hair, some with infestations so bad they had rashes along their hairlines. Most of them had gone without a bath for days, if not weeks. Another had roach bites all over her back.

And the family's 6-month-old boy was drinking from a bottle "so dirty that it was black in color," the detective wrote in his report. Inside the bottle, a dead roach was floating around in liquid.

The couple, Timothy and Haley Covey of Brooksville, were both arrested April 30 on six counts of child neglect.
    [...]

According to the Brooksville police report, authorities were called to the Coveys' home in Morse's Meadow Mobile Home Park on the morning of April 30 in response to a report of abuse and neglect.
    [...]

The home smelled of "rotting food, cat urine and fecal matter" and was infested with roaches, according to the report.

"The odor was so severe that my gag reflex activated ... and I almost vomited," Detective Shawn Terry wrote.

Authorities offered a number of details from their search of the home: The house had no edible food or water; roaches — both dead and alive — were inside the refrigerator; human feces were on the floor and had apparently been walked through; the infant boy who was drinking from the bottle had a roach leg and other roach parts stuck to his eye.

Terry also noted that some of the children had already been removed from school for having lice.

Timothy Covey, whose occupation was listed as unknown, has twice been arrested in Hernando on domestic battery charges, but those were later dropped.
    [...]

Haley Covey has no prior criminal record. In her arrest report, she is listed as a "house mom."

Fucking Sick!! I dont know if you guys know what a "longdrop" is but its basically a toilet set up at squatter camps in South Africa. They dont use running water. They are like concrete closets with a huge hole underneath for people to do their "business" in. They normally serve hundreds if not thousands of people and are not cleaned very regularly.

I would like to chuck these 2 maggots down one and seal the hole.... after all thats where shit belongs......

Ok obviously this bitch wasn't too damn much of a house mom or the kids wouldn't have head lice, and baby wouldn't be drinking from a bottle so disgusting I about lost breakfast when I read the description of it. Thank God these children are out of that nastiness. Hopefully they are with people who know how to take care of a house and children.

They need to throw these 2 in jail for about 20 years. A condition of parole would be to have their baby makers disabled.

I've read hundreds of stories on here about child neglect and filthy homes, but I think this one tops them all. I cannot wrap my mind around how anyone could live like this. I know there are places in the world that are like this through no fault of the people there, but in this case, no excuse. Soap and water are cheap here.

Disgusting. Stories like this really make me want to go clean my house.

I know that a lot of people wonder how people can live like this, let me share my little story.

I see this kind of crap as an issue that has a lot of causes, hoarding being the usual one...but I also know that it can result from never having to to do house work while growing up and plain being lazy.

My BF's mom did all the cleaning when he was growing up, she also never (and I mean never) asked him to help or even clean his own bedroom. The end result is a guy who has no idea how to clean, I actually have to leave him a chore list. lol

Now he is getting better, he does dishes without being asked and actually throws garbage away or cleans up the living room and kitchen when I am at work!. It is still a work in project and quite honestly I get more help from our four year old son but at least it is a start.

Now our house has never gotten any where near as bad as some of the stories I hear on here, it is more cluttered with kid toys. Eww I would just throw up if I found rotten food laying around, or if the cats litter boxes were not scooped at least twice a day, and scrubbed out weekly.

That said, these two shits are lazy asses who need to learn to fucking to clean. Too poor, hit the damn dollar stores for cleaning supplies...to much work needs done around the house? Have the older kids help, make it a game for them to sweep and pick up toys. And how the hell do you not bath your kids???

    Okay I'll shut up now..

NIce that they are abole to set up networking accounts but not clean. I feel BAD for that poor lil baby. Good Gawd. And here I felt like a sloppy hog because Ive been doing some major improvements in my home(all by myself too) and have plastic and trim tape all over the home and my dishes need done. Actually I need to sweep the kitchen too. I did notice this morning that my toilet was clean though, lol (sad but true)!

    Well, aren't YOU an optimist.

In my experience, something this bad is only caused by one thing... DRUG ADDICTION (meth or crack being the usual suspects).

Not even severe hoarders or lazy people will allow their children to drink out of a bottle with roach parts floating in it. That is simply not caring, and it's something that is rarely brought on by anything other than a severe drug addiction.

Aaaand now I have the creepy crawlies. Ugh. You know, my house is hardly ever spotless, my son's toys have taken over, but I can't relax when there is laundry or dishes needing done, or the bathrooms are dirty. I would really like to know how these people are able to live in this. I would like to know if there is a trigger or something. Why is it that some of us are not able to relax around a small mess, and others are able to live in absolute filth. Mom does look like a drug user though.

Very true.. We also forgot online gaming. BF is into EQ and god forbid something needs done while he is playing. I have pretty much heard every reason why he can't clean, too tired, don't know what needs done, it makes him sick (loved it when he was gagging from sweeping. lmao)to my personal favorite one, he only gets a few hours a day where he can play online.

As a warning to anyone who is dating someone like this, before you move in together keep in mind that the majority if not all the house work will fall upon you. It is also a long and frustrating journey but it is possible to "retrain" these guys and girls.

Now forgive me as I go clean up kitchen, this story is making me want to clean my own house from top to bottom.

Yeah, actually, I should've expanded that to plain ol' "addiction". Doesn't necessarily have to be drug related. I've known some dramatically neglectful gamers as well.

I hope this boyfriend is pretty spectacular in every other way, because, otherwise, I'd advise you to keep your options open.

OK, I'm probably one of the most MMORPG-playing people I know. I spend sometimes more than 4 hours in a row doing it, and I still have time to keep my home clean.

Something seriously wrong with these people.

He has always held down a job since I knew him. He does all the cooking (although I can cook) he does not bitch if I send him shopping, and if there is one thing that can honestly be stated as the most important thing in my opinion he is a great dad. He adores our son and actually spends a lot of time playing and working with him (he is autistic). I think of that as a fair trade off. Hell he even puts up with me and my own aspie ways. lmao

Unfuckingbelievable! I feel like crying my eyes out for those poor children. How can two individuals -together- fail so miserably? Couldn't one of them have somehow figured out those are not acceptable conditions for a child to live/thrive in?!? I guess it just goes to show there's somebody for everybody. Neuter them both!!

That's a baby bottle? I know it's not the bottle, but I've never seen one so bad.
I'm just glad the call came to the cops instead of CPS or whoever. Who knows how much longer it would have been, and one of those kids may not have made it outta there alive! Good for the caller!

Umm a couple of points here. First, I have seen, ok I have even been an owner of such a bottle. Everyone of my children has toddled around with their bottle and poof "gone" not to be found for a month or two, hell even 3 because honestly I am too busy to move my couch when I clean. I admit to even trying to salvage one (big mistake). Second, I am a NYer. My mother was raised in Harlem where roaches are a part of life. Everybody had 'em but "controlling" 'em is more likely. Any food containers in the garbage and garbage out before bed or whenever no one is gonna be home. Don't keep any correspondance (ie letters) cuz they love the glue. Anyhow, I remember one of my first apartments, nice clean etc. But let me tell you the walls would move so much I kept the lites on all the time cuz I hated stepping and hearing the crunch crunch as I walked. I would literally put a peice of tape over my son's ear holes because of the fear of the night crawling bug in search of the warm spot. Ahh yes those were the days lol

I have a thing about roaches. I fuckn hate them. The vile fuckers.

Now to read a baby's bottle had one floating in it and the eye thing, roach leg and parts in the baby's eye>>>>>FUCK!!

I feel outraged and utterly horrified that children were left to live this way. It happens, it IS happening but to read it, just so sick.

Poor sweet children, breaks my heart. I hope they are placed well away from these vile shit's oh and the vile house too.
I agree it has to be drugs.

How to clean your home in 19 minutes
    Kitchen, 4 ½ minutes daily
Always start with the sink. "Keep it empty and shining," says Marla Cilley, author of Sink Reflections (Bantam, $15) and creator of www.FlyLady.net, a housekeeping Web site. A sparkling sink becomes your kitchen's benchmark for hygiene and tidiness, inspiring you to load the dishwasher immediately and keep counters, refrigerator doors, and the stovetop spick-and-span, too.

    • Wipe down the sink after doing the dishes or loading the dishwasher (30 seconds).
    • Wipe down the stove top (one minute).
    • Wipe down the counters (one minute).
    • Sweep, Swiffer, or vacuum the floor (two minutes).

    Bathroom, 2 minutes daily
Make cleaning the basin as routine as washing your hands. But don't stop there. Get the most out of your premoistened wipe by using it to clean around the edges of the tub and then the toilet before tossing it.

    • Wipe out the sink (30 seconds). Wipe the toilet seat and rim (15 seconds).
    • Swoosh the toilet bowl with a brush (15 seconds).
    • Wipe the mirror and faucet (15 seconds).
    • Squeegee the shower door (30 seconds).
    • Spray the entire shower and the curtain liner with shower mist after every use (15 seconds).

    Bedroom, 6 ½ minutes daily
Make your bed right before or after your morning shower. A neat bed will inspire you to deal with other messes immediately. Although smoothing sheets and plumping pillows might not seen like a high priority as you're rushing to work, the payoff comes at the end of the day, when you slip back under the unruffled covers.

    • Make the bed (two minutes).
    • Fold or hang clothing and put away jewelry (four minutes).
    • Straighten out the night-table surface (30 seconds).

Family room, living room, foyer, 6 minutes daily
Start with the sofa -- as long as it's in disarray, your living room will never look tidy. Once you've fluffed the pillows and folded the throws, you're halfway home. If you pop in a CD while you dust, you should be able cover the whole room by the end of the third track.

    • Pick up crumbs and dust bunnies with a handheld vacuum (one minute).
    • Fluff the cushions and fold throws after use (two minutes).
    • Wipe tabletops and spot-clean cabinets when you see fingerprints (one minute).
    • Straighten coffee-table books and magazines, throw out newspapers, put away CDs and videos (two minutes.)

I used to go to Flylady.net. I loved that site.

Thing is, people are lazy. Hell, even I have lazy days and it's contagious as hell. In one day, my work the following day can triple. Then I turn into a raving bitch because I hate mess and get all pissed at myself and everyone around me.

If you do all this first thing while you're coffee is brewing (at least the bedroom and pick up laundry), you can sit and relax and not stress about what's got to be done. But then again, that's for people who give a shit about their kids and home.
I try to have everyone pick up before bed so my job is easier.
For a few months it was just hubs and I but now everyone is back under one roof. Fun Fun Fun!

When my kids were little I wasn't allowed to have a messy house. And I'd spend a half hour before bed and an hour every morning doing my main cleaning.
Rest of the day was spent chasing kids and picking up after them. And children prefer a clean environment. Just have to get off their lazy ass and show them how.

It's really bad when two pigs live together.

Dakota Valkyrie how did you post this with out hurling all over your computer??

I only have heard of one gross story that tops this and that is because one child was tortured/murdered by her mom (3-year-old Tammy Layne had flies buzzing around her head after they hatched in her scalp, maggots were removed from her ears BEFORE she was dead). I thought I was seeing things the way they described the child....
I really thought they meant she was dead when this crap was going on, but she wasn't!!

(I still hope I read that wrong, I need to believe that some how).

I kept hearing bugs in my ears after reading the slip opinion
    Layne v. State, 310 So. 2d 249 - Ala: Court of Criminal Appeals 1975

..bug legs stuck in baby eye lashes is making me turn all sorts of shades of green. now I will never sleep again thanks to these two epically disgusting cases!!

    UGH! Jerri

Sometimes I have to question if Humans are really something of a whole other origin than animals. My reason for this is because animals don't treat their young this way. It defies nature and yet we see it over and over again.

    WTF is wrong with people???????
