Toddler burned on playground slide

I know most of us are smart enough to check these things out
But for the ones that arent heres a warning
Kinda like not leaving baby in car
Dont have crib or anything kids can climb on near blinds with cords etc,etc,etc

Nicole Hollingshead says her 18-month-old daughter, Madyson, went down a plastic slide at Brook Run Park on Wednesday afternoon and suffered second-degree burns on her hands, her knees and her stomach.

Madyson now has golf ball-sized blisters on both of her hands.

Television station KCCI-TV took an electronic device to the park Friday to measure surface temperatures and found the surface of the plastic slide was 163 degrees Fahrenheit.

wow. 163 degrees.
ya know... it likely wouldn't occur to me to check how hot it is, but I don't have kids.

I remember burning my butt on those big metal ones a long, long time ago. Wonder how hot they got.

A bazillion degrees... that's how it felt. We once got in trouble for trying to bribe my little brother to go down one. He's such a tattle tale.

WOW, that was plastic? sheesh I don't know if that would've occurred to me either. those older metal one's, oh yes, but plastic damn. good tip to keep in mind.

I wouldn't have suspected plastic slides to be dangerous in the heat. I am sorry this little girl suffered burns. I am making sure from now on to check when my 5 year old is playing on the playground.

When I was 6, my mom took me and my sisters to the park. Well my older sister went down the slide face first, and her chin was cut by glass right at the end of the slide. That dummy was always getting herself hurt, and cutting our park time short.Yeah I am still bitter.

and bare feet in parking lots are a no no. I have heard of children and adults of getting sever burns on the feet from walking on asphalt that was heated by the sun. Even sand at the beach can get hot enough to burn little ones feet. I always have them walk with sandals/beach shoes until we get close to the water. just a reminder.
