A registered sex offender was arrested Wednesday in the Gaston County town of Stanley.

A police report was filed March 27th accusing Timothy Joel Tate of taking indecent liberties with a 4-year old male child.

The incident supposedly occurred when Tate had been entrusted to baby sit the child.

Tate was previously convicted of taking indecent liberties with a child in October 2004. He served less than two years in prison in Lincoln County and was placed on the sex offender registry for 10 years.
