Mom, son charged in fatal bar stabbing
Victim: 47-year old Christopher Hall
North Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A mother and her son have been arrested in connection to a fatal stabbing of a bartender at a North Haven bar.
It happened at Doran's Bar around 1am. The deceased has been identified as 47-year old Christopher Hall of New Haven.
"Officers arriving found the bartender gravely injured. Paramedics arrived at the scene here pronounced him dead of his injuries. It appears to be a single stab wound to the chest," said Capt. James Merrithew, North Haven Police Department.
Other patrons at the bar told police that it was 47-year old Mary Ames who stabbed the man. Police found the knife at the scene.
"She carried it with her here, it was in her possession. Single edged blade, probably six inches long," Capt Merrithew said.
Also in the bar was Mary's 24 year-old son, Michael Ames. While his mother is charged with murder, Michael is now charged with hindering prosecution."Mary and her son Michael left the scene in a vehicle. Michael was driving. They were located a short time later by uniformed officers at their home on Oakwood Drive," Capt. Merrithew said.
That was thanks to customers who gave police a description of the Ameses and their car. Police say they've never been called out to Doran's before, and neighbors say they're surprised to hear about the violence.

North Haven Police and the State Police Major Crime Squad were out here all night and spent the morning processing the scene, but police say they still don't know why the stabbing happened in the first place.
