An Indonesian father claims his two-year-old son is addicted to cigarettes, The Sun reported Saturday.

Mohammad Rizal, from the Southeast Asian country's Musi Banyuasin province, said his son Rizal is hooked on tobacco after having his first cigarette at just 18 months old.

But Rizal said he is unfazed by his son's smoking habit.

"I'm not worried about his health -- he looks healthy," he said.

"He cries and throws tantrums when we don't let him smoke. He's addicted."

Indonesia has a major problem with child smokers -- 25 percent of three to 15-year-olds smoked at least once according to the Central Statistics Agency.

Seto Mulyadi, chairman of Indonesia's child protection commission, said parents who smoke and aggressive advertising are responsible for the rise in the number of child smokers, ANI reported.

"A law to protect children and passive smokers should be introduced immediately in this country," Mulyadi said.

Um, yeah ya think. There seems to be a few morons that have yet to understand the dangers in smoking. I bet the man in this story thinks it is cute. ridiculous that they have to make laws for something that just seems like common sense!

My grandmother was the same way... not one of her grandchildren went without smoking a cigarette, cigar or pipe at least once before they were even 2. At least one of them has "seriously" been smoking since he was 4 or 5. I started very young as well but I've quit. My cousin will never quit... ever.

Damn, sure glad I was never given cigarrettes. I was taught how to cuss by one of my uncles. He taught all the kids to cuss, and then we would get punished for repeating. But never taught to smoke. But now I cuss like a sailor but my lungs are good!!!

Uh, he is a two year old, they throw tantrums... But you are bigger, stronger, and you are the boss. Just don't let him have them.

My grandpa used to make all of the kids take a puff off of his pipe when they were small. I was the only one he never did that to because "I was too pretty"

. A few years later, I was the only grankid that smoked. I think it backfired on him. I would like to add that my grampa was batshit insane at the time, but for the most part was very responsible with us kids...

I know that the health of the baby seems to be the main concern. Of course I agree, but that would be down the road- I see a much more immediate danger to this poor baby; how about the fact that a cigarette needs to be lit- with FIRE!

Think about giving a lolipop to a toddler: Within 2 minutes they've managed to ruin their clothes, sticky up their hands and face, and probably ended up leaving the loli in a couch cushion- NOW picture the same scenerio, with a lit cigarette! OMFG if this baby doesn't burn their house down, he'll undoubtedly burn himself!-CRAZY!

His mother, Diana, 26, wept: 'He's totally addicted. If he doesn't get cigarettes, he gets angry and screams and batters his head against the wall. He tells me he feels dizzy and sick.'

Ardi will smoke only one brand and his habit costs his parents £3.78 a day in Musi Banyuasin, in Indonesia's South Sumatra province.

But in spite of this, his fishmonger father Mohammed, 30, said: 'He looks pretty healthy to me. I don't see the problem.'

not only is the kid a heavy smoker, when he's not smoking, it looks like his diet is a bit rich. i'm not insulting his chubbiness... he's a cutie. but for a two year old he looks like a real health problem is going to emerge if he keeps gaining weight.

Two-year-old Aldi yanked on his mother's hair and squirmed in her arms.

Tears formed a small pool in the folds of his double chin.

"He's crying because he wants a cigarette," said Diana, his mother, who like many Indonesians goes by only one name.

We caught up with Aldi, who is nearly twice the weight of other babies his age (20 kilograms or 44 pounds), and his mother at Jakarta's airport.

As we spoke to his mother, a crowd gathered and a man taunted Aldi with a cigarette, blowing smoke in his direction.

"Well, I don't want to give him cigarettes, but what I am I supposed to do? I am confused," his mother said. "I didn't let him smoke, I even forbade him from smoking, but I was trying to stop him from getting sick."

She showed us a scar on Aldi's head, where she said he smashed his head into a wall during one of his tantrums. She said he also vomits when he can't satisfy his addiction.

When I first saw this around facebook, I thought it was a joke. a 2 year old, smoking more than double what I smoke in a day? Insane. If the parents can't deal with the tantrums of getting him to quit, then it's time for him to go to a family that will value his health.

He's a smoker and over weight, this is worse than children of 2 yo in America! that is saying something!...poor baby.
