An Iraq War veteran is behind bars in West Michigan, facing charges of child pornography.

According to court documents obtained by Newschannel 3, the allegations against Buehrer came to light after his girlfriend reported him to Marshall Police.

That girlfriend told officers that Buehrer was showing her pictures from his time in Iraq on the computer when explicit pictures of a toddler popped up.

The girlfriend went to police after she says Buehrer made a comment that the couple should engage in sexual relations with their toddler.

Police confiscated Buehrer's computer, finding several photographs, and he was taken into custody by the FBI. Buehrer later admitted the photos were of an ex-girlfriend's child.

A former Jonesville resident and Iraq war veteran Bradley Buehrer was arraigned Tuesday on a 3-count federal indictment charging him with sexual exploitation of a two-year-old girl in Jonesville in 2005 and possession of those images of a minor and child pornography in Calhoun County last month.

Judge Ellen Carmody ordered him to be held without bond because he is considered a serious risk as he would endanger others.

According to the affidavit provided by Kalamazoo FBI agent Kurt Schechtel, the current girlfriend of Buehrer was looking at pictures on his computers of his services in Iraq in November 2009. Among the pictures were eight showing a young child and a man engaging in sexual activity.
