    14-Year-Old Tattooed Against His Will

Investigators Say Group Promised Not To Pick On Boy If He Complied

A 14-year-old boy was coerced into getting a tattoo by others who said they wouldn't pick on him at school if he allowed it to happen, police said.

Police said that a group of young men enticed the boy to a residence on Holt Street in Concord to receive a tattoo. The boy was tattooed against his will, police said.

The victim was described as a special-needs student at Concord High. Police said the tattoo consisted of an image and two obscene words and was tattooed on the boy's buttock.

Police said the boy was tattooed on May 10. The boy told them he thought it would be private, but the next day, students in the school were passing around pictures of the tattoo and calling him a name that referred to the content of the tattoo. A teacher overheard a conversation about it and, after talking to the boy, called police.

Blake VanNest, 18, of Concord, was charged with two counts of assault, endangering the welfare of a minor, tattooing without a license, indecent exposure and criminal threatening.

Donald Wyman, 20, of Concord, was charged with criminal liability for the conduct of another and conspiracy to commit endangering the welfare of a minor.

Ryan Fisk, 19, of Concord, was charged with two counts of assault, endangering the welfare of a minor, tattooing without a license, sale of a controlled drug and criminal threatening.

Travis Johnston, 18, of Concord, was charged with conspiracy to commit endangering the welfare of a minor.

Police said a 15-year-old Concord juvenile will be charged later in connection with the incident.

Now if all bullies would something that could be seen and touched and proved. I hope he can get this removed, but at least it's on his butt and he can hide it. I'm glad they didn't make him get it on his chest or face.

Oh man, lucky it wasn't my kid. I hate learning about a special needs child being taken advantage by teen thugs. I bet they picked on him to remove the attention off of them. Look at them all, don't tell me they don't look like circus freaks!

Is it wrong that I need to know what the tattoo is and what the 2 words were?

Four Men arrested in Hate Crime On a Mentally Challenged 14 Year-Old Boy

    http://www.concordmonitor.com/articl...s-tattooed-kid

In what the police are calling an atrocious hate crime, a 14-year-old Concord High School freshman with intellectual challenges was bullied into getting lewd tattoos on his buttocks by a group he wanted to be friends with, court records show.

Four Concord men were arrested yesterday and Wednesday on a range of charges in connection with the May 10 assault that left the victim with "Poop D---" across his entire buttocks. A fifth person - a 15-year-old high school student - will also be charged in connection with the case, police Lt. Keith Mitchell said.

Inside the dimly lit basement of a Holt Street duplex, the men told the victim to kneel against a weight bench as one of the men used a marker to outline the tattoo, which also included depictions of a heart and male genitalia, the police said. Then, they took turns using a tattoo gun to etch dark ink into his skin, the police said.

Two of the men arrested yesterday have connections to white supremacy, prosecutors said. One of them also threatened to assault the victim with his genitals if he didn't keep quiet, police records show.

"These crimes were committed with huge cruelty and insensitivity to a victim who was emotionally vulnerable and intellectually challenged," Prosecutor Scott Murray said yesterday at an arraignment in Concord District Court.

For about a week leading up to the incident, Blake VanNest, 18, of 2 Jennings Drive, promised the victim that others would stop bullying him if he got a tattoo on his butt, the police said.

"(VanNest) knew the victim was younger, unpopular and frequently picked on, and that (VanNest) had taken advantage of him based on this," Concord police Detective Wade Brown wrote in an affidavit.

Joanne Johnston, the mother of one man who was charged, said local teenagers consistently loiter outside of her house. She questioned police accounts of the event, saying the victim willingly received the tattoo.

"He's the captain of his own ship. Nobody made the kid do that," she said.

Johnston said she was in Massachusetts when the crime happened. When she returned home, she found ink-stained paper towels in the recycling bin and metal folding chairs arranged in the basement.

"What are you going to do, arrest every bystander and call it hazing?" she said. (great idea you stupid bitch.)

Disguisting is the only way to put this. It gets worse as you read the article. One of them is already a proud white supermist, and the other one is on his way to being a pervert. And as for the one mother quoted in the article, the stupid apple doesn't fall from the tree.

Four Allegedly Tattoo Special Needs Student

Four young men in Concord, N.H., have been accused of forcing a 14-year-old special needs student to get an obscene tattoo on his backside.

CBS News correspondent Jim Axelrod reported three seniors at Concord High School -- plus a drop out -- face charges in what police say was an especially cruel episode of bullying.

Principal Gene Connolly told reporters, "This is by far, (in) my 30 years as an educator, the worst event that I've ever had to deal with."

Police say the classmates told the victim they'd stop picking on him if he let them tattoo the image on his rear end. Three of the suspects allegedly tattooed him with their own needles.

The mother of one of them says the boys acted stupidly, but not maliciously.

Patti VanNest said, "They told me about it. They were joking about it. They thought it was something funny. And I believe there wasn't any animosity or hatred."

Police were called when a teacher saw some students passing around photos of the tattoo.

Connolly said, "Folks been using the word bullying. I almost think it's more horrific than bullying."

The charges include assault, endangering the welfare of a minor and indecent exposure. If convicted, the four suspects are looking at sentences ranging from three to 13 years.

Child and adolescent psychologist Dr. Jennifer Hartstein said on "The Early Show" Tuesday that children with special needs, such as the one in this case, are especially vulnerable.

"These kids want to be included, they want to participate, they want to be part of the crowd. And now all freshmen want to be part of the crowd. But then add a cognitive limitation in there, and there's even more. So he was especially vulnerable to want to be part of these older kids, 17, 18, 19, 20-year-old kids wanted to befriend him, how great, how cool. So he worked really hard to do whatever it was that they might want. And ultimately this was the horrible consequence."

She continued, "And who is protecting the kids, the younger kids? Kids are entitled to an education until they're 21, so there are going to be schools where you'll have 20-year-olds with 13 and 14-year-olds. So who is protecting the younger kids and who is protecting the kids who are more vulnerable or have cognitive limitations?"

So is this bullying -- or something even worse?

Hartstein said, "It's bullying taken a step further, especially because you're dealing with some young men who are adults. In the eyes of the law, 18, 19, 20, they're adults. So now you're taking it to a different level. But at the end of the day, it's almost really traditional bullying, really, 'You do this, you will be our friend.' And that's just what it came down to."

The search feature can get a bit persnickity at times. Just use the first and last name of the perp (just one). If that's not known, try the first & last of the victim or the city/location. In this case, just the word "tattoo" would have probably got it. Keep the search as simple as possible.

threatened to assault the victim with his genitals if he didn't keep quiet
    Aka "rape"?

    As for the boy being:

"He's the captain of his own ship. Nobody made the kid do that," she said.
.... even if she is right and the boy agreed to have the tattoo, he was a) at 14-years old not old enough to give informed consent, b) being learning disabled not mature for a 14-year old, and c) her son and his "friends" (with friends like these.......) should have known better than to aid an abet him in something so stupid. And that is assuming he agreed, as she claims.
