BETHANY, Okla. -- A man Bethany police have dubbed the "panty bandit" has been arrested, and it turns out the suspect is a 19-year-old high school student, authorities said.

A senior at Putnam City West High School, Paul Whitestar allegedly terrorized metro women for two months, sometimes grabbing them or asking them to flash him for cash, leaving behind dirty panties as sort of a calling card, according to police.

In all, six women have come forward to say Whitestar approached them over the past two months at various apartment complexes in Bethany. One of those women has accused Whitestar of cornering her in a laundry room and exposing himself.

Bethany Police Chief Neal Troutman said authorities were able to track the suspect down via descriptions of his vehicle -- a red minivan with a missing hubcap that belongs to Whitestar's mother.

"I think it's a good thing that we did catch him because it was escalating, and who knows. Next time we might be talking about a sexual assault or rape or something in that nature, and we don't want to go there," Troutman said.
