Timothy Bodden Allegedly Responsible for Baby Found Dead In Miami Gardens Home

Not alot out yet but doesnt sound good at all
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Police said they are working to find out how a baby girl died in a Miami Gardens home Monday morning.
Detectives said the 1-year-old girl was injured Sunday in North Miami. When the girl was taken back to the home in Miami Gardens, where the Department of Children and Families said she was in the custody of an aunt, she was not breathing, according to investigators.
After someone in the home called 911, rescuers arrived, and the baby girl was pronounced dead.
A representative of DCF said the agency has been to the home several times. The DCF would not say who was caring for the girl Sunday in North Miami.[...]

    Grandmother talks about baby's death
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- While officials remain tight-lipped about what exactly happened following the death of a baby taken from her parents' custody who would later die in her relatives' care, that baby's grandmother has decided to speak out.
Esmene Meus admits her favorite grandchild is now gone. "I can't explain to you how I'm feeling. That's my favorite one," she said, Tuesday.
There are still a lot more questions than answers as to why little Kinia died inside a Miami Gardens home Monday morning. Police are still awaiting autopsy results, which are expected back sometime Tuesday. "We're handling this or investigating it as a death investigation, pending an autopsy," said North Miami Police Lt. Neal Cuevas.
Now, the girl's family and police are trying to figure out how it happened. Little Kinia had a rough one year of life. She was taken away from her biological parents months ago, and according to Meus, she was living with her aunt. Sunday night, that aunt was out of town, so the aunt's boyfriend was caring for the toddler. "The boyfriend got authorization to take care of the kid, but he loved that baby. He loved her," Meus said.
According to police, Sunday night, the little girl sustained an injury while at an apartment at a complex on 148th Street and Northeast 18th Avenue, in North Miami. Tuesday, no one answered the door of Apartment 7-R, where the little girl's grandmother says she fell after bumping her head on a dresser. "She just tried to walk for herself," Meus said.

But, according to police, that accident was never reported. The authorities would not get involved until Monday morning, when the girl was returned to her aunt's Miami Gardens home unresponsive. That is when someone finally called police. But it was too late. Little Kinia was pronounced dead at the scene.
    [...]
The Department of Children and Families said they were checking up on the little girl since she was removed from her parents home five months ago, and they have launched their own investigation.

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police have arrested a man and charged him with the murder of a 1-year-old girl found deceased at a Miami Gardens home.

Police announced the arrest of 23-year-old Timothy Bodden Thursday afternoon for the murder of Kianna Meus. He is the boyfriend of the girl's aunt.
The family said the death was the result of an accident in a North Miami Apartment on Sunday, where Bodden lived. "She just tried to walk for herself," said Esmene Meus, the grandmother of the little girl in an interview Tuesday.

However, police are not calling it an accident but murder. "This individual was charged with second degree murder because the investigators felt this was not an accident ... that he was responsible for her death," said North Miami Police Lt. Neal Cuevas.
    [...]
The child was brought to the aunt's home in Miami Gardens on Monday and pronounced dead on the scene. "Timothy Bodden took the child to the child's relatives' home in Miami Gardens," explained Cuevas. "At that point, it was discovered that the baby was not breathing. Fire rescue responded, they couldn't resuscitate and she was pronounced dead."

Bodden now sits behind bars at the Miami-Dade County jail with no bond, charged with murder in the second degree.

The Department of Children and Families had assigned the child to the custody of her aunt after declaring the child's parents unfit to care for her

North Miami police charge caregiver's boyfriend in baby's death
A 1-year-old who was removed from her mother's home is dead, and the boyfriend of a caregiver who was supposed to protect the baby is charged with killing her

    [...]
On Monday, Kianna died under unexplained circumstances, and on Thursday, the live-in boyfriend of an aunt tasked with protecting the baby was arrested and charged with killing her.
Her cause of death: multiple skull fractures from blows to the head.
Timothy Bodden, 23, was charged with second-degree murder after police decided his explanation of events inside the North Miami apartment did not fit the evidence.

Bodden had been watching Kianna and her middle-school-aged sister Sunday while his girlfriend, the girls' aunt, Lisa Meus, was out of town, police said.
Bodden told authorities Kianna fell from a chair, knocking her head on a wood chest and leaving a small bruise on her cheek.
On Monday, Bodden said, Kianna appeared alert before he drove her to her birth mother's residence in Miami Gardens. He told police she fell asleep in the car, but was not responsive after they arrived.

However, the medical examiner determined the baby's injuries did not match Bodden's story.
    BLUNT FORCE
The multiple skull fractures ``could not be caused by a single fall,'' the arrest warrant said, quoting the medical examiner. Kianna's death was a homicide caused by ``blunt force trauma,'' the medical examiner concluded.
The Department of Children and Families had a long history with Kianna's family, which included five children in all. DCF had placed two of them with their birth fathers and three others -- including Kianna -- with Meus, the aunt.
DCF had investigated Bodden and designated him an ``approved'' caregiver for the children. He did not have a criminal record in Florida, state records show.

    UNRESPONSIVE
On Thursday, nobody answered the door at the North Miami apartment. At the Miami Gardens house, a man who answered the door declined to comment.
The warrant gives the following account of what Bodden told police happened on Sunday:
Bodden was home with Kianna and her sister inside the apartment at 14899 NE 18th Ave. He was folding laundry while Kianna stood on a chair.

``He heard a thud noise and saw that the child had fallen on the floor,'' the warrant states. The only injury he saw was a small bruise on her right cheek.

Later, he put her to bed and the next morning, drove her to her mom's in Miami Gardens. She slept in the car, he said, but when they arrived she was ``unresponsive.'' Kianna's sister told police she wasn't in the room when Kianna fell.
When she asked Bodden about ``bruising'' on Kianna's face, he explained it as a ``skin condition,'' so the sister put Aveeno cream on Kianna's face, the warrant says. Bodden left the baby in her crib and took the sister to school. It was police who told the sister that Kianna had died.

Sad to say, apparently the aunt was no better than the parents. She had some poor judgment in men and babysitters.

Gosh I feel so bad for Kianna's sister finding out her baby sister is dead from the police.

Mother leaves baby with boyfriend. Why not with family? grandmother seemed to adore baby girl. I know it's not always the case, but it often seem to be boyfriend + baby = DEAD BABY.

Rest in peace baby Kianna Meus.

Well, In the aunt's defense, DCF said they had Okay'd this dude caring for the child. She probably thought that if they were okay with it, she had no need to worry...

Somebody murdered a baby and pinned it on your friend for political reasons? What were they? And if so you shouldn't bother with us idiots, you should call the Sharpton guy. He will get right on it.

The baby came from an abusive family, was abused, was taken away. Timmy was trying to be helpful. The autopsy reports that the skull fractures were "healing", thus meaning they were not the cause of death, that they had happened prior. I think the police were doing their jobs with good intent, but the Prosecutors office and the DCS dropped the ball. They keep filing continuances on the case because they don't have the evidence to convict. THAT'S where the politics come in. This was an accidental death, but the autopsies revealed evidence showing that that child had undergone previous SERIOUS harm. It took the DCS over 6 months to remove this child from the original home. Everyone involved with the case, including the child's father and the legal guardian, have all stated they believe in Timothy's innocense.

As for shining a light on this case and how horribly it has been handled, I am just getting started my friend.

    Miami-Dade:

$50.00 per day per inmate charged for each inmate. If unable to pay, they have to pay remainder/outstanding upon release or else see assets/taxes etc seized to pay. This became effective in 2009.

Seriously Zonivek, if the autopsy showed healing skull fractures, then I am sure your loved one will be found not guilty (being he only had the child for the 24hrs immediately preceding the death). I'm inclined to believe you having had some recent occasion to view various pers with multiple skull fractures (open and closed) overseas --- even with the closed, there's a shit tonne of bruising and swelling of the head and it is very obvious. It ain't just a bruise on a cheek. The only thing noted by any witness' or first responders "the morning of" in this case is a bruise on the cheek. Multiple Skull Fractures inflicted within the previous 24 hours with only external mark being a cheek bruise? No way.

If your relative did do it though, may he rot in hell.

    .
That's the inmate's charge. not the family. it must be sought under a civil action. The courts don't put a "lien" on the offender but they put it into "civil judgement" so that if and when they ever do come into money, the State will take it from them. From what I understand about civil judgement, they will not take from your salary (when out of prison), but they will take if you hit the lottery, come into an inheritance or make a windfall on selling something (like a home).

You'll have to understand that we here don't usually take the whole "He's the nicest, sweetest, most gentle, God-fearing, and loving" lines as the ultimate truth. There are so many dipshits that come in here defending abusers and murderers in spite of evidence proving their guilt. So, forgive me if I don't jump on the "he's innocent" bandwagon right away.
If ALL the skull fractures were healing, then I hope that he gets justice. However, there is another scenario you haven't thought of. Maybe there were some previous healed skull fractures along with some NEW ones. Miami-Dade Jail isn't to blame for your pal being incarcerated. He either hurt that baby or is in an unfortunate situation where he is being blamed for hurting that baby. Either way, may justice be served swiftly and harshly for the murder of another innocent life.

Healing begins immediately. The degree of healing can tell them somewhat of when the fracture occurred. Since the child had not been with her parents for several months, any healing from their abuse would have been markedly different than a skull fracture that happened a week before (for example)... but both would show healing. She died of multiple skull fractures. Some could very well have been old but they obviously felt, even if there was some healing, the fatal ones were not two months old.

Kianna was living with her aunt and her live-in boyfriend (Bodden). If the non-accidental fractures were less than two months old, someone has some explaining to do.
