Nicole King wanted reward to return cell phone; police charge her with theft

A Monroe Township woman has been arrested after she contacted the mother of an individual seriously injured in a motorcycle crash and told her she would return his cell phone if she was paid a reward, police said Thursday.

Nicole King of Library Street is charged with theft of lost or mislaid property.

She contacted the woman last weekend, saying she had her son's cell phone which she located near the scene of the motorcycle crash. The cyclist is hospitalized with serious bodily injuries, police said.

A township officer contacted King. She admitted to having the phone but then stated she possibly lost it. She told the officer she threw the phone away and that police should look for it in the dump.

Later, she told officers she threw the phone back where she found it.

"It does not pay to be a good Samaritan," she told police.

Exactly. And it was extremely mercenary to try to take advantage of a woman who was suffering and worrying about her son. That was disgustingly greedy of her.
