OMG! Cheney Mason is inserting himself into the Quran burning story! What a media whore!!!!!!

Casey Anthony's attorney is speaking out about the proposed Quran burning in Gainesville, Fla.

Orlando attorney Cheney Mason wrote an open letter Governor Charlie Crist, Attorney General Bill McCollum and Mayor Craig Lowe to address the negative attention Florida has received because of the proposed Quran burning in Gainesville.

In the letter, he asks state leaders to step in and execute their constitutional obligations by enjoining Pastor Terry Jones from carrying out his mission to burn hundreds of Qurans on Sept. 11.

He goes on to say that it is their responsibility to stop the burn mission and protect the cititizens of Florida.

John Walsh calls Casey Anthony case ’such a sore on Florida’

You’ve seen a lot of Florida stories on “America’s Most Wanted” for a reason. John Walsh lives in Florida.

“I have a personal affinity for Florida cases. We get a huge amount of weirdos,” Walsh told me today. “The Sunshine State is where the creeps come to spend the winter. Florida has a huge transient population.”

“America’s Most Wanted” starts a new season at 9 p.m. Saturday on WOFL-Ch. 35. The premiere showcases a most wanted terrorist who grew up in Florida.

Walsh said he wanted to return to the case of Jennifer Kesse, the Orlando woman who disappeared four years ago. ”America’s Most Wanted” has looked Kesse’s story three times, Walsh said.

“I’m looking for something new that I can crank that case up again,” Walsh said. “Somebody grabbed her. He may still be in Orlando. It’s disturbing. We will try to revist the case before Christmas.”

What’s Walsh’s reaction to the Casey Anthony case? “It’s such a sore on Florida,” he said. “It’s just a nightmare.”

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

“It’s like a horrible reality show,” Walsh said. “Florida taxpayers say, ‘Put this woman on trial and move on.’ It’s just tragically sad. They should have had the trial six months ago.”

Detective testifies in Casey case

"Holding back on a death penalty case is what wrongful convictions are made of," said Casey Anythony's lawyer Jose Baez.

Casey Anthony's attorneys said the state is keeping them from thoroughly defending the young mother accused of killing her daughter. This comes the same day they questioned the lead detective on the case.

Friday was a big day for Casey Anthony's defense. They were questioning detective Yuri Melich, the lead detective on the case. The defense says they talkED about newly released evidence concerning Melich.

"Discovery that was given to us last week has substantially important things in it from Melich that they've held back from us since August 2008," said Cheney Mason, with Casey Anthony's defense.

Mason said the discovery concerns cell phone pings and new witnesses they want to talk with but he stopped short of calling them suspects.

This new evidence makes Anthony's defense team ask "what else is there to know?"

"It's pretty remarkable the state would be hiding stuff or just not giving it to us. What if this case had gone to trial a year or a year and a half ago?" Mason said.

"I think it's our job to know everything. You wouldn't want your lawyer getting things two years to late," Baez said.

Mason and Baez said the new evidence is favorable to Anthony and that depositions earlier this week with state experts are helping them make their case that Casey Anthony isn't guilty.

The defense has not filed anything formal against the state. Until that happens the state holds its position of not commenting to the media about the case.

Detective Melich will be questioned again as attorneys did not finish. Next in the Case Against Casey, the defense team continues it's round of depositions. They will head to Knoxville and D.C

i love reading Seamus O'Riley but even I didn't need him to tell me that Lee and his speech was just creepy, creepier, creepiest. Or that he was not speaking about Caylee but about Casey, even the dumbest among us could hear that in what he was saying. Tho I truly beleive in what O'Riley says, I think some of the awkwardness of Lee's speech can be put down to him trying to sound so smart and educated, when he is not, by using big words and words that didn't really fit where he used them. He only made himself sound like an weird, creepy, uneducated loon who has a very strange and inappropriate relationship with his sister.

Attorneys for Zenaida Gonzalez want to pursue new evidence in her defamation suit against Anthony, WESH-Channel 2 reported this afternoon.

Anthony has said that a baby sitter named Zenaida Gonzalez took Caylee Anthony. The woman suing Anthony, who has that name, says that claim ruined her life. Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter.

WESH’s Bob Kealing pointed to Anthony’s letters to a jail pen pal as a possible source of new evidence.

“If there’s a witness out there that who can say I heard out of Casey Anthony’s mouth ‘this is fabricated,’ that would be huge for our case,” Gonzalez attorney Keith Mitnik told WESH.

WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Martie Salt noted that the civil case could unfold in the first quarter of next year – before the murder trial. WFTV said the murder case would start June 14, 2011, but May 9, 2011, is the actual date.


“The civil trial is not about whether Casey murdered Caylee, so there’s no legal reason to hold it up,” WFTV’s Kathi Belich said. “Zenaida Gonzalez’s lawyers say if the civil trial makes Casey look bad right before her murder trial, that’s her problem.”

Belich highlighted an Anthony letter to a jail pen pal that said “Zenaida didn’t do it.”

Belich also noted that Anthony doesn’t have to attend the civil trial. And Belich relayed WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer’s view that Anthony will face criticism “if she does for her clothes and her every move — or for her guilty conscience if she doesn’t.”
On Central Florida News 13, Mitnik said the attorneys want to make Anthony pay for what she did to Gonzalez. “We will be asking for a significant amount of money,” he said.

Central Florida News 13 anchor Adam Longo added,”Mitnik would not comment on an exact amount.”

On WOFL-Channel 35, Mitnik said he suspected there would be overlap between the civil and criminal trials. “That’s not our problem. That’s her [Anthony's] problem,” Mitnik said. “Frankly, I don’t care what problems it creates for Casey Anthony.”

WESH’s Kealing reported that Anthony has refused to answer questions from Gonzalez’s attorneys and they don’t expect Anthony to attend the civil trial.

“With her very life at stake in the murder trial, it can only harm Casey’s defense if she were to admit in this defamation case that Zanny the nanny was just someone she made up,” Kealing said in concluding his report.

Jose never gets it right.. You click on English and its in Spanish. I'm floored... he is such a piss poor liar in my opinion. To me there is a difference between a lawyer and an attorney... and Jose is neither. I think many of us could do a better job in court and in writing motions with no experience and no law school than Jose. I'm not impressed with him at all.

I feel sorry for his clients but Jose is having the last laugh financially on the back of Florida's taxpayers. It has never been about Caylee. It hasn't even been about Casey. It was always about "the money"!

Then Jose knows what a buffon and fool the internet thinks he is. The statement analysis on Mason is so right on. Why hasn't LKBaden officially withdrawn... is she waiting for Jose to be disbarred so she can step in and not be getting sloppy seconds and plea the case out becoming the hero and first chair? Does the 6/1/10 rule exclude her since she was "pro bono" from the beginning. Remember only Lyon and Jose were listed as attornies receiving monies.

Lyon I'm sure didn't want to spoil her perfect record and did not want to be associated with the disaster in process.

I'd be on bended knee for a plea deal and I would have done that a long time ago. Better late than never! You got a guilty client with no defense and you're hoping for a hung jury. I guess the state's pay of 150 an hour beats no clients Jose.

No media attention is worth looking like a total fool. I hope they disbar you Jose... then you can move to Paris permanently!

So what this tells me, is that Casey is going to sell her story. (If she already hasn't by now.) So who gets the dough? How can she do this if she is indigent? If she's convicted, then the Son of Sam rules apply, don't they? I can't imagine that she would be so altruistic as to give this cash to her family. Why aren't the media jumping on this with both feet? Is there a conflict of interest relating to the media paying C & G for the photos, and the initial $200,000 Baez collected? This really makes me sick.

Decided to start a thread on the "mysterious" Jim Lichtenstein. We have all seen him accompany Cindy Anthony to all hearings in the case and some have speculated about whether he is engaged in some type of media deal with the Anthonys.

Why is he finding it necessary to travel from Chicago to Orlando to attend every hearing (including status hearings) IN PERSON?

Why is he always seated directly next to Cindy? Is it in order to hear all her mutterings and comments?

Why does it appear he takes absolutely NO notes?

And why does it appear through his twitter that he has a close working relationship with Martha S?

Does he have a working relationship with Marinade Dave as well?

He has stated he is the producer for their Today Show appearances, but there have only been a handful of those, so why all the expense and effort to attend every single hearing, especially since he could easily watch these hearings live via internet for the cost of a cup of coffee. I imagine his expense report is quite lengthy with all the hotel and airfare accommodations from Chicago to Orlando.

And then a very smart friend who is very internet savy discovered this link and it certainly opened up speculation in my eyes...

Zellner is on board with plans for actress Jessica Biel to portray her in "Privileged Information," the title for a film Biel is making with Lichtenstein and other co-producers. The lawyer said she has signed a contract with the producers, selling her movie rights to the story of a case that she has long identified as the one that transformed her career.

The concept for a feature-length film that would focus more on the psychological dynamic between client and lawyer -- and the issue of the privileged information she was holding on to -- rather than on gory details of horrific murders is what sold Zellner. "It seemed like something good could come out of the movie," she said. "One is to shed some light on the pressure and dilemma for an attorney of having privileged information, and also to shed light on, really, the psychological profile of a serial killer."

The producers' focus, however, helped her make up her mind to forge ahead. "the focus of the story is, I think, something very interesting about revealing the situations that attorneys are put in, and their ethical obligations," Zellner said. "The producers decided to take that angle on it -- not to make a slasher movie. I think that's a good thing."

Lichtenstein, who had worked for many years at WLS-Channel 7 as an assignment manager, remembers covering the Eyler case. When he came to learn about another twist to the story, that it was rumored that the Eyler accomplice had sent an escaped inmate to kill Zellner, the producer said he knew he had the makings for a movie -- with little need to "pump up" the facts for the big screen. "ere are so many great details just with this one story," Lichtenstein said. "The story is so strong on its own that it'll carry most of the day." The movie project is in the development stage.

Lichtenstein said his team of producers is searching for the right writer to pen a script they could take to the studios. " a perfect world, if things move along swiftly, it's possible we could be shooting a year from now," he said. Lichtenstein, who said he hopes the filming of the movie would take place in Chicago, said production could take about 18 months. The movie, he said, could reach cinemas by 2011

So now I am wondering if Cindy Anthony's "story" could be only a small part of this speculated deal....could Jose be involved as well? What about others who seem to be instigating themselves into this case (to some of our opinions)?

Why would this be a meeting that would not take place like a visit and might not be filmed by the camera. If this was not filmed and Jose sleezed around it as if it was an attorney or defense conference and its a book deal that would be unethical and a violation of the ethics of a lawyer, and also in violation of Sunshine Laws.

How long is Judge Perry going to permit the ripping of the envelope because jose is past pushing it.

Casey's Defense Team Calls News Conference Tomorrow.

WTF? Wonder what this is all about. Do you think its a plea?

The Casey Anthony defense team has called a news conference for Tuesday morning.

It was not immediately clear what will be discussed at the news conference, which will be held at attorney Jose Baez's Kissimmee office at 9 a.m.

Baez and Mason are expected to hold the news conference, but Mason's legal assistant said today she could not confirm the topic that will be discussed.

Casey Anthony, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old child, Caylee Marie.
