Exclusive: Did Casey's pen pals lie? (video)

News 13 has exclusive new information in the Case Against Casey.

It’s information brought forward by a state prison inmate that could help Casey's defense team. She's reached out to them and she's sitting down in an exclusive with News 13.

Her name is Robin Lunceford and she claims that former pen pals of Casey Anthony lied to Orange County detectives.

"She'd sit in front of the whole dorm and would brag how she's lying,” said Lunceford.

News 13 spent an hour last week with Robin Lunceford inside the Lowell Correctional Institute in Ocala.
She was housed with Maya Derkovic, the woman who told detectives Casey would "knock out" Caylee so she could go out.

“She told me she made it up. She made it up at my door,” Lunceford said.

Lunceford reached out to News 13 in letters and she claims former Casey pen pals Derkovic and Robin Adams wrote letters to each other.

"They were comparing their stories, they were basically saying, "I said this when they came to see me. Make sure you say this,” Lunceford said.

When asked if Robin Adams and Maya Derkovic conspired to make up a story about Casey Anthony, Lunceford said yes.

Lawyer Sues Again Over Attorney's Alleged $1 Million Challenge
First lawsuit filed in a Texas federal court was dismissed for lack of personal jurisdiction

Texas attorney Dustin Kolodziej is once again suing Florida criminal defense lawyer James Cheney Mason and his firm for breach of contract over a challenge that Mason allegedly issued on "Dateline NBC" in December 2006.

Kolodziej alleges in his original complaint in Kolodziej v. Mason, et al., filed June 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, that the suit arises out of Mason's representation of Nelson Serrano, who was convicted and sentenced to death for the 1997 murders of four people in Central Florida. As alleged in Kolodziej's complaint, security cameras at the La Quinta Inn in Atlanta showed Serrano at the hotel within a few hours after the murders.

Mason argued on "Dateline NBC" that there was no way Serrano could have committed the murders and been at the Atlanta hotel by the time the video showed he was there, according to the complaint.

Kolodziej alleges that Mason challenged anyone to show him that Serrano could have deplaned in Atlanta and been at the hotel five miles away within 28 minutes. As noted in the complaint, according to the "Dateline NBC" transcript, Mason said, "I challenge anybody to show me, I'll pay them a million dollars if they can do it."

Mason has claimed that "Dateline NBC" edited his statement, which referred to the prosecutors in Serrano's trial, but Kolodziej alleges in his complaint that Mason's version of the statement "contains in substance the same challenge as broadcast by Dateline."

According to the complaint, Kolodziej, who was then a student at South Texas College of Law in Houston, accepted the challenge in December 2007, retraced Serrano's route and made the last leg of the trip within 28 minutes. Kolodziej alleges in the complaint that he sent Mason a video tracking his trip along with a demand letter, but Mason wrote back in January 2008 that it was just a joke.

When Kolodziej wrote a second letter demanding to be paid for successfully completing the challenge, Mason threatened to have him prosecuted, Kolodziej alleges in the complaint. So Kolodziej sued Mason.

"Mason made an offer of a unilateral contract when he issued the challenge," Kolodziej alleges in the complaint. He further alleges that he accepted the contract when he performed the challenge and that Mason has breached the contract by refusing to pay him.

All of this may sound familiar. In June 2009, Kolodziej filed a suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas in Houston. But on Oct. 23, 2009, U.S. District Judge Gray Miller granted the defendants' motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction.

Mason's attorney, Louis Bonham, of counsel at Osha Liang in Austin, says, "We think the suit was baseless and was dismissed properly the first time and will be dismissed again."

Connelly Baker Wotring partner David George of Houston, Kolodziej's attorney, says the suit Kolodziej filed last month in Georgia is essentially the same suit filed last year in Texas. "We're just bringing it in a venue that pretty clearly has a connection to it," George says.

Kolodziej, who now lives in San Antonio, declines comment on the suit, George says.

Sheila Hansel, South Texas College of Law spokeswoman, says Kolodziej graduated from the law school in May 2009. Texas Board of Law Examiners records posted online show Kolodziej passed the bar exam in February.

Accused killer of foster child Rilya Wilson granted bond

MIAMI -- A judge ruled Tuesday that Geralyn Graham, the woman accused of murdering foster child Rilya Wilson, deserved to be released on bond after the key witness against her refused to testify.

Although Graham, 59, will remain behind bars until May at the earliest because she is serving a sentence for an unrelated motor vehicle fraud conviction, her attorney said the decision by Circuit Judge Andrew Hague to grant bond in Rilya's killing suggested the prosecution's case is weak.

``This additional murder charge is based on nothing _ absolutely nothing,'' said the lawyer, Brian Tannebaum. Bond on a first-degree murder charge in Florida is rare, but allowable.

Hague announced his decision after Robin Lunceford, 42, repeatedly invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination when asked questions about Graham and the Wilson case. Graham was indicted for the child's murder after Lunceford told investigators that Graham confessed to her in jail of killing Rilya.

Lunceford, who has a lengthy criminal record, has since been convicted of armed robbery and could get life in prison when sentenced Sept. 9. Her lawyer, Ellis Rubin, said he advised Lunceford against testifying Tuesday because he intends to ask for a new trial in her robbery case.

``I don't want her to give any testimony that might jeopardize my arguments for a new trial,'' Rubin told reporters Tuesday.

Tannebaum, however, said Lunceford's refusal to answer any questions Tuesday indicates that she no longer is interested in testifying against Graham, now that she has less to gain because of the robbery conviction.

``I think that says a lot about this case,'' he said.

Hague set bond for Graham on the murder charge at $100,000, which would be added to the $150,000 bond previously set on a kidnapping charge for a total of $250,000. Graham, who sat passively in court in a maroon jail jumpsuit during the hearing, also would be subjected to electronic monitoring and other restrictions.

Assistant State Attorney Sally Weintraub argued against bond, pointing out that Graham had a list of 45 aliases with matching false Social Security numbers and should be considered both a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Hague showed some sympathy for that argument but ultimately decided the evidence was not strong enough to justify holding her without bond.

Also appearing at Tuesday's hearing was Pamela Graham, who described herself as Geralyn Graham's ex-lover and who is cooperating with prosecutors in the murder case. Pamela Graham, who is not related to Geralyn, was asked briefly about Geralyn Graham's ties to the community and whether she appeared likely to flee if released.

Police believe Rilya, whose body has never been found, was dead more than 15 months before the state Department of Children & Families realized in April 2002 that the girl was missing despite a requirement for monthly home visits. She was supposed to be under state supervision after being taken from a drug-addicted mother.

The Grahams claimed she had been removed from the home by a state worker in January or February 2001. The discovery that Rilya was missing triggered a search that extended nationally and to the Bahamas, but police claim the Grahams lied about the girl's disappearance to cover up her slaying.

The girl's unnoticed disappearance triggered a review of the state's child protection system and led to resignations by the DCF chief, some Miami administrators and caseworkers.

Arguably the most prolific informant in the Miami-Dade jail is Robin Lunceford. A robbery suspect and career criminal, Lunceford has offered police information about four murder defendants she met in jail, including Geralyn Graham, the caregiver for missing foster child Rilya Wilson.

Lunceford said that while she and Graham shared a jail cell one day last year, Graham admitted that she smothered Rilya. Lunceford's testimony is crucial to the Rilya case because the child's body has not been found.

In a recent interview with The Herald, Lunceford said she gained the trust of many fellow inmates by helping them prepare legal papers for court.

"In prison, women, they confess, they talk," Lunceford said. "You would be amazed at the concessions that come your way."

But the more helpful Lunceford was with police, the more she was attacked by Graham's lawyer, Brian Tannebaum, as a snitch willing to say anything to avoid jail time. In recent weeks, prosecutors have dropped Lunceford as a witness in two murder cases, though she remains the main witness against Graham.

Thanks Chiquita, for bringing up the transcript of the second 911 call. It reminded me that one of the things I heard CA say for the first time was that she had told Casey to return the car two weeks earlier than it was impounded (she describes it as "stolen" on the 30th, which means that two weeks earlier would have been roughly the 15th).

This is in direct opposition to her statements that she made where she implies she was unconcerned because she knew KC was off "bonding" with Caylee and that she didn't need to know where she was, trusted her daughter, etc.

It also suggests that KC left home in such a way that it made her parents very upset. If she had simply walked out of the house as GA describes, on her way to "work" and the "nanny's", then why would her parents think she had "stolen" the car? It implies that when she came home on June 14th (after being gone most of that week at RM's etc), her mother had perhaps ordered her to stay and keep Caylee at home. After the trip to Mt. Dora on Father's Day, that clearly did not happen, as they were never seen together again after the next day.

CA telling LDB that she had told KC to return the car two weeks before it was impounded is in complete contradiction to her subsequent stories she told LE and the FBI and the press about why KC had left home and in which she minimizes its significance or meaning.

In order for CA to have assumed that the car was taken without permission, she is almost admitting that KC left after an argument or fight of some kind on the night of the 15th.

I've never smelled human decomp but, since I live in the country, have smelled animal decomp, I can't say how they smell the same or different (tho I don't think the smells could be all that dissimiliar), but I can say it is a smell you will not forget, it does not smell like rotting pizzas or vegetation, it is a gross, make you sick at your stomach kind of smell, and the closer you are to it or the bigger the animal is the more overwhelming the smell is. It just defies the mind to think the Anthony's thought they could make anyone believe that was pizza, maybe a pizza with a dead wharf rat on it, but not pizza by itself.

I know I am kinda late to the game here, but I saw your post and wanted to reply. In my life, I have unfortunately smelled some terrible things. When I was little, my Grandpa used to take me to the garbage dump(why, I don't know, he was a strange man). I have smelled rotting garbage, and while it stinks to high heaven, it doesn't smell even close to decomp. As with most people, I have smelled animal decomp and we all know that it stinks. As far as human decomp, I have a story for you. A month or so ago, hubby and I were coming back from my aunt's house on a farm to market road, when we were hit by a smell so bad, I puked. It took a mile or so before the smell didn't gag me anymore. I turned to my hubby and said that it wasn't an animal, but something was dead back there. He looked at me with a straight face and said, "Smells like pizza to me." Then said, he knew what I meant. The next day, the news reported that a dead body had been discovered in the field that we passed, and the man had only been missing for about two days, maybe three. My point is this: once you have smelled human decomp you realize it smells like nothing else. While similar to animals, it is still different in a way I can't explain. You never forget the smell.

Dumbass Cindy knew exactly what she smelled and that is why she said what she did.

A daughter comes to her mother for support when she is pregnant, the mother says without hesitation it will be ok. And it was. But then the lies and betrayal began. First it seemed harmless, ah, love is blind. A mother will look for the good in her child and give them a chance to change. This mother gave chance after chance for her daughter to change, but instead more lies more betrayal. What does the mother get for giving her daughter all of these chances? A broken heart. The daughter who stole money, lots of money, leaves without warning and does not let her mother now speak to the baby that her mother raised, fed, clothed, sheltered, paid her medical bills, etc. Instead tells her friends that her mother is controlling her life and she needs her space. No money, no future. Where did she go? Who is now watching out for the little angel?

You're hired if you can promise less typos! I enjoy Dr. Glass' articles, however she makes them very difficult to read at times. I would proof-read her writings for her. She may have done well in psych class, but I'll bet she wasn't very good in English class!

I am learning something new, well new to me. It's called micro expressions. Apparently not everyone can see or read these in people. I think I put more faith in facial expressions than I do in body language. People can kind of fake body language if they try hard enough. However you can not fake a micro expression...
