Twelve talented seniors, 65 and older from Aventura to West Palm Beach, will be competing for the chance to be named the 2010 Senior Idol.

For the fifth year, Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale is presenting its Idol competition, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Parker Playhouse, 7 NE Eighth St., in Fort Lauderdale. Finalists will compete for a $1,000 cash prize and a free pass to ride Tri-Rail for one year.

The competition will also feature a performance by Ed Pierson of Weston, last year's Senior Idol winner.

Competitors are Cathy Barrett, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea; Patti Cancino, Dania Beach; Bob Coyne, Delray Beach; DeAnne Friedberg, Weston; Barbara Glenn, Aventura; Maxine Jaffe, West Palm Beach; Robert Kolodin, Tamarac; Ronald Levine, Delray Beach; Bob Mainelli, Pompano Beach; Ed Slater, Lake Worth; Gail Solomon, Coral Springs; and Alfredo Villoldo, Lauderhill.

More than 130 seniors auditioned at Holy Cross Hospital for the chance to be a Senior Idol finalist.
