A girl of 14 has been charged over the suspected 'vigilante' murder of a man she had accused of a sex assault.

Robert Daley, 45, was stabbed to death just days after the Crown Prosecution Service ruled there was insufficient evidence to charge him over an alleged attack on the teenager.

The suspected paedophile allegedly murdered by his 14-year-old accuser "got what was coming to him", her sister said yesterday.

The 16-year-old was speaking outside court after her younger sibling appeared charged with the murder.

The older sister added: "He deserved it. He tried it on with me and my cousin as well."

An 18-year-old man arrested over the murder on Saturday has been bailed to return in May.

Neighbours had found Daley sprawled in a pool of blood in the doorway of his flat in Stockwell, South London.

Last night one described seeing him close to death from multiple chest stab wounds. Barry Boreland said: "I saw his legs flopped out and blood everywhere. He was still conscious and managed to tell the police his first name.

"It was shocking. He was a decent neighbour who never caused us any problems."

Friends of Daley have said they are astonished to discover he was accused of sexual assault.

The former builder is thought to have a child at university from a previous relationship.

A girl of 14 killed a man after learning he would not be charged for an alleged sex attack on her sister, the Old Bailey has heard.

On the morning of his death Robert Daley was told by an officer that the case was being dropped by prosecutors.

Later, the defendant visited Mr Daley's flat in Ferndale Road, Stockwell, south London, with a boy of 14. Mr Daley, 45, was found with stab wounds soon after.

The teenagers, now both 15, deny murdering Mr Daley in April.

The defendant, her 16-year-old sister and a woman had accused Mr Daley of sexual assault, but all three continued to be in contact with him, Jonathan Rees QC, prosecuting, said.

The 14-year-old girl did not make a statement and prosecutors decided not to bring charges in relation to any of the allegations.

Jurors heard that after learning this Mr Daley called the 16-year-old girl.

She sent a text back saying: "Stop calling and texting me. I really don't want anything to do with you.


"You are a perverted man and I can never forgive you."

Mr Rees said: "This phone call acted as a catalyst in his death."

It is alleged she then called the two younger teenagers who later arrived at the flat.

The jury heard that five minutes later, Mr Daley crashed through the living room door, shouting: "They have stabbed my artery."

Two of the stab wounds had penetrated the victim's heart, the court heard.

The girl denied taking part in the stabbing, but claimed during the visit Mr Daley sexually assaulted her in the kitchen and the boy stabbed him to help her get away.

Mr Rees added: "There is evidence that she later told people close to her that it was she who stabbed him.

"It is the prosecution case that both defendants were both responsible."

Mr Rees told the court that three months before his death, Mr Daley had been arrested for various offences.

The 16-year-old said he had "acted in a sexually inappropriate way towards her and had sexually touched her".

After her arrest the 14-year-old claimed to have first been abused by Mr Daley at the age of 12 but it had been a year since he last sexually assaulted her.

Mr Daley had been interviewed by police but denied all the allegations, and after reviewing the evidence the Crown Prosecution Service decided no charges would be made.

The trial was adjourned until Wednesday.

I don't know what to make of this. I could see the anger and frustration taking over when you hear the molester isn't getting charged, I can't think of any other reason for her to kill him on that particular day. Which makes me think he was guilty of some sort of sexual abuse.

I feel he was a pedophile and liked them at least as young as 12 years old. I think there was sex involved rape or what he considered consensual sex
But since a 12 year old can't consent its rape the pedophile raped her and the others
Biggest issue I have with this case is that CPS investigated it and they have a history of seeing no evil, hearing no evil
So just haul the garbage away, clean up the blood and lets do what CPS does best, close the case and head for happy hour and half price drinks

According to the prosecution at the Old Bailey, the defendants, who were both 14 at the time, had gone to Mr Daley's house to 'teach him a lesson'.

Heavy-drinking Mr Daley had been accused by the girl, her then 15-year-old sister and another woman, of sexual abuse.

After being contacted by police informing him the case would not go to trial, Mr Daley rang the elder girl. She texted him back telling him to keep away from her, calling him a 'pervert'.

She wrote: 'Stop calling and texting me. I really don't want anything to do with you. You are a perverted man.'

The court heard she then contacted her sister and the boy – who was the father of the baby she was expecting.

Then, the two 14-year-olds went to Mr Daley's home and a struggle ensued, leaving him fatally injured when two knife wounds punctured his heart.

The pair denied the charges against them, telling the jury Mr Daley had tried to indecently assault the girl, grabbing her around the throat, which led to the boy jabbing him with a knife.

Jonathan Rees, QC, prosecuting, told the jury to remember that, while Mr Daley had something of a 'Jekyll and Hyde character', 'this is not a vigilante society'.

It's one thing to "run into" him. A total different thing to go to his house on purpose. I have my own thoughts on 14 year old pregnant girls that return to a home where they were "raped". Not pretty thoughts but I still own them.

A teenage boy who killed a suspected paedophile "to teach him a lesson" has been given a life sentence.

The 15-year-old was told he must serve at least nine years behind bars for the murder of Robert Daley, 45.

A second teenager, a girl also aged 15, was given a six-year sentence for manslaughter.

Judge Anthony Morris told the boy: "You saw what you were doing as acting in revenge for what you saw as an insult to your girlfriend."

The court heard how the killers disposed of the blade, a mobile telephone and bloodstained clothing.

During sentencing, the judge said: "You both showed chilling criminal sophistication for 14 year olds."

He added he was prepared to accept the allegations against Mr Daley were true.

But he said it was "understandable" in the circumstances that the Crown Prosecution Service had dropped the case.

The court heard the boy had been excluded from school four times for various reasons, including having a knife in his bag and threatening another pupil, before finally being excluded permanently.

His fellow killer was said to be "an intelligent girl who has poor control over her temper and a tendency to be aggressive to others".

Since being detained over Mr Daley's death she had been involved in eight incidents, five of which were assaults.
