A Johnson City woman recently was charged with child abuse after Johnson City police saw her pushing her 2-year-old in a stroller while intoxicated, police said Friday in a news release.
Jessica N. Barry, 24, 717 Georgia St., was arrested April 21 after officers observed her having difficulty walking and stumbling while pushing a stroller on North Broadway Street with the child in it wearing thin clothing during cold conditions, police said.
Officers could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Barry’s breath, police said, and she was in possession of an alcoholic beverage at the time of the investigation.
Barry was charged with child neglect/abuse and jailed at the Washington County Detention Center on $10,500 bond.
