2 arrested in Columbia for child abuse
COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - Two people have been arrested in a child abuse case in Columbia. This is a picture of the eight year old male victim with bruises on his back.
Michael Bogle, 50, is charged with child abuse. The victim's mother, 29-year-old Melissa Edwards, is charged with accessory to commit child abuse.
Columbia police say the victim's teacher noticed several bruises and contacted the Department of Human services.

According to Detective Chris Brumfield, an 8-year-old boy was complaining of itching and burning on his back at school today(posted April 27th) and his teacher discovered severe bruising and other injuries on his back. Further investigation found that the injuries were spread all over the boy’s body.

The child was taken to the Department of Human Services. The couple arrived at DHS and was arrested there. The boy’s biological mother, Melissa Edwards, 29, and her 50-year-old live-in boyfriend, Michael Bogle, were arrested. Bogle is charged with child abuse, as police believe he was the one who allegedly hit the child, while the mother is charged with accessory to child abuse. Police believe Edwards was aware of the abuse but did not report it.

Brumfield said the preliminary investigation reveals that the boy was “beaten on a routine basis.” Bogle and Edwards were booked into Marion County Jail while the child was put in the custody of DHS.

One of the beatings allegedly occurred last nightOn Monday while another is suspected of happening last Thursday.

A 51-year-old Columbia man will serve at least 10 years after being sentenced Tuesday in 15th District Circuit Court to 20 years in prison on a charge of felony child abuse

Michael Bogle, who pleaded guilty to physically abusing an 8-year-old in 2010, also was ordered to have no contact with the victim or his family and to enroll in anger management classes.

I'm confused as to why everyone is pissed at the state for this. The investigator said this wasn't the first time the boy was abused...but he didn't say they were notified before. They can't see through walls for fucks sake.

They were notified about the abuse and they removed him immediately. They actually did what they were suppose to and people are still bitching. WTF?
