RICHMOND, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Cache County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a mother who beat her daughter and tried to break into a room with a knife.
According to Cache County Sheriff's Office Lt. Chad Jensen, deputies responded to a call of domestic violence at 9:00 p.m. Monday night.
According to Jensen, the incident began with a an argument between 36-year-old Sonia Hayman and her husband, Terrance.
The argument escalated, and according to Jensen, Sonia struck and kicked her 17-year-old daughter as she tried to call 911. Jensen said the daughter retreated with an 11-year-old sibling and Terrance to a bedroom where they tried to lock the door.
Jensen said Sonia then tried to break through using a knife, which she used to stab at the door several times, eventually penetrating it, as Terrance held it shut while calling 911 with a cell phone.
Sonia Hayman was booked into the Cache County Jail on 3 counts of aggravated assault, 2 counts of child abuse, 1 count of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, assault, and damage/interruption of a 911 call.
