A manager of a Detroit strip club has been charged and accused of hiring a 14-year-old girl as a topless dancer.

Investigators said the girl was working at The All Star Topless Bar on 8 Mile Road in Detroit.

Police said Andrew Hutson, 31, is charged with child sexually abusive activity, a 20-year-felony.

"He didn't hire her," said Billy Hutson, 27, who said he works at the club as a porter. "This is a legit establishment. We play by the rules."

The employee said the girl also had a dancer's license -- called a dance card -- as required by city ordinance, but Evans said she did not.

Evans said he'll work to convince the state's liquor control authorities to padlock the club, which he said has been the site of 11 nonfatal and three fatal shootings since 2004.

The club also has made headlines as being the employer of a Detroit stripper whose shooting death was at the center of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's eventual downfall.

The club routinely stonewalls officers investigating incidents there, Evans added.

"But our resolve is strong," Evans said.

Despite the tales of glorious earnings by strippers, this type of thing is far from unusual for dancers of any age. Dancers often have to "split" their earnings with the club and staff. Unless you are a "star", it's not always that glorious. It also could depend on the "norm" for the local clubs on how they pay the dancers.

The dancers I've known were usually there because they really had no other skills. The 2 that I can think of that did do well, made money because they were good and could negotiate better deals with clubs. But they were also smart enough to be doing it to subsidize other pursuits (like college) and didn't stay long. I'm sure some dancers, in some places, do well and have long prosperous carreers.

This is occurring in the jobless capital of Michigan. I'm willing to bet there's no shortage of people willing to dance for next to nothing. If this place even suspected (much less knew) that this girl was underage, they are beyond hopeless as a business. Stupid even in the best of times but even beyond that in the current climate.

Well , her "sneaky, conniving, and story telling" gene is top notch. I would have to wonder just how "retarded" (mother's word) this girl really is. Maybe she's just the type to wanna strip and mama is making it seems she was forced into it by saying she's not capable of understanding what she's doing.

Dancing has been my job for a while now and NEVER have I worked with a minor to my knowledge...The owners and management are super strict on ID's and always check them...The girl obviously has allot of issues and is asking for trouble.Just to clarify about her last escaped in which she stated she handed over all her money...I call bullshit...You pay house fee and tip the DJ,doormen and if there is a house mom you tip her too...Her mother should be arrested...For a girl who is "Retarded" she sure seems to know how to fake a ID well.

'Disrespectful'
A friend of the teenager's family described the girl as "disrespectful of her mother," the Detroit News reported.

"She would pull a garbage can up to the window and jump out of the house," Tay Giles, 39, told the newspaper. "If you sat down ... had a conversation with her, you would know she's underage because she's not capable of having a grown-up conversation."


The arrest came on the same day that All Stars Lounge was padlocked following an order from a judge. That club is to remain closed for a year. Timothy P. Murphy, a lawyer for All Stars, said he's appealing. He said the Club Onyx bust makes him suspicious about what circumstances drew police to both clubs.

"I think she's working for the Detroit Police Department," Murphy said. "I think it's obvious."

Roach denied that claim.

Truancy issue
Andrew Hutson, a manager at All Stars in April, was ordered to stand trial Tuesday following a preliminary hearing in 36th District Court. He was arrested and charged with child sexually abusive activity after the girl's mother told police she pulled her daughter from the club. He's due back in court on July 27.


A message was left Tuesday with Hutson's lawyer Marc Hart, who has said his client had nothing to do with girl's hiring. Under questioning from Hart, the girl said in court she had danced at two other clubs before All Stars.

The girl, whose name was not released because of her age, was being held at a youth home on a probation violation from a prior truancy issue, he said.
