Investigators: Texas sex offender skips out on sentencing for manslaughter conviction
RICHMOND, Texas—A man convicted of manslaughter in Fort Bend County was on the run Tuesday after investigators say he skipped out on the punishment phase of his trial.
Victor Torkizadeh, 28, was on trial for murder but was convicted of manslaughter after two hours of deliberation Monday afternoon.
He was out on $10,000 bond, waiting for sentencing, when a court reporter alerted bailiffs that Torkizadeh may have fled.
Investigators said the reporter found some articles of clothing in a stairwell, which bailiffs recognized as belonging to Torkizadeh.
When he failed to show up for sentencing, officials issued a warrant.
Investigators said Torkizadeh, a registered sex offender, is a self-employed plumber who sometimes goes by Cesario Martinez.
