Larry Greene has several explanations for what happened to his 7-month-old son

A 20-year-old father is charged with murdering his 7-month-old son, after he confessed to punching the crying baby in the chest, police said.

Larry Greene has been charged with second-degree murder, after reportedly confessing to authorities he punched the baby in the chest.

Greene -- who apparently watched Xiah Greene each day as his 17-year-old mother attended school -- was apparently jealous of the amount of time she would spend with her baby. Sources tell PIX News, Greene initially told police he had hit the child because he was choking.

Authorities found Xiah unconscious inside the family's apartment on 113th Ave. in St. Albans Tuesday night. The infant was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The baby's mother has not been charged.

Xiah had a bruise on his scalp, two bruises on the neck and five bruises on the chest that showed imprints of an adult's knuckles, officials said.

The child's mother, Cassandra Nady, asked Greene, 20, who lives nearby, to watch Xiah at her St. Albans home.

"He said the baby fell when he was feeding him but it wasn't even close to the truth," said Nady.

An assisstant district attorney handling the case said that Greene showed no remorse and under questioning admitted to striking the baby in the past, a family member told 1010 WINS.

Jealous that his son "preferred his mother," a Queens dad fatally beat his 7-month-old, the latest in a rash of violence against small children in the borough, officials said Wednesday.

"Toughen up!" Larry Greene yelled at the crying child before punching him in the chest, prosecutors charged.

Xiah stopped breathing moments later, and died Tuesday night at Queens Hospital Center, the fourth child in the borough to die at the hands of a guardian in five weeks.

"We're grieving right now," Pierre Nady, 47, the victim's maternal grandfather, said Wednesday. "Xiah was only 7 months old - he was a cute, little boy [and] he was loved."

What a worthless excuse for a father. Jealous over his own son and beats him like he's a grown man. I hope this POS is beat down and killed in prison, does not deserve to breath the same air he took from Xian. Fucker.

I honestly don't understand why someone would harm their child. Xiah was a beautiful boy, who deserved a life of joy and happiness(and play!). I hope this bastard gets the rack. Screw anal rape(pun..), give him a champage and cocaine enema and while he writhes around in pain, stretch his scrawny ass over a rack and slowly cut each appendage off.

When will these gila monsters get over the idea that a small child should be tough? Imagine how frightening some tiny diaper-wearing crip with droopy jeans, bandana head, or maybe laconic, muscular, wife-beater wearing baby would be! Frankly, it's just stupid. When you try to toughen up a small child, you're creating the next generation of society draining monsters. Leave them some time to enjoy the nurturing and love. It might be the only chance they ever get.

A 22-year-old St. Albans man was sentenced to 12 years in prison Tuesday for killing his baby son when he was crying, the Queens district attorney said.

Larry Greene, of 115th Drive, pleaded guilty last month to the 2010 manslaughter of his 7-month-old son, Xiah, Brown said.

Greene was baby-sitting the boy while his mother, Cassandra Nadi, 17, was away and the baby began to cry, according to the DA.

Greene told the baby to “toughen up” and punched him in the chest, at which time he began to stop breathing, the DA said.
