A fight between a father and teenage son over who would get to use a portable fan escalated into a family brawl, with the father hitting the teenager in the head with a drill and biting him in the thigh, St. Petersburg police say.
The father - identified as
Michael Roberson, 52 - was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Wednesday morning on a charge of child abuse involving aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

After Roberson and his 15-year-old son got into the fight over the box fan Monday night, the boy's mother tried to intervene, and then Roberson
took a swing at the boy, Proffitt said. The boy in turn
struck his father in the head with a football trophy, Proffitt said.
Then Roberson
bit his son on the right thigh, at which point
his son punched him in the back of his head, Proffitt said. The two ended up on the floor, with Roberson
hitting his son in the forehead with a Black and Decker cord drill, Proffitt said.
The boy's mother then took the drill away from Roberson, at which point
Roberson tried to bite the woman, and her son punched his father, Proffitt said. When Roberson
grabbed his son by the throat, the boy's 13-year-old sister pulled him off, Proffitt said. Then the boy called police.
