Love Thy Neighbor... with a Haymaker: Priest vs 2 Jehovah's Witnesses

Arguments about religion don't usually end in fisticuffs. But a Fort Worth Priest says he ended up in the hospital after a fight with Jehovah's Witnesses earlier this week.

Jehovah's Witnesses aren't saying much but neighbors say someone isn't telling the truth. The church, Saint Augustine Mexican Catholic Church, is a tiny neighborhood church located on the 46-hundred block of Blackstone Drive.

The priest, Father John Parnell, lives in a house in the back of the church. Tuesday, a car with three Jehovah's Witnesses pulled up to the street. Two of them knocked on Father Parnell's door.

Father Parnell's 26 year old daughter answered. Mary Parnell said the Jehovah's Witnesses "talked at her" and that her father "rescued her." But a fight between the Priest and the Jehovah's Witnesses ended up in the street.

Parnell says the fight was so violent, they tore his shirt. "He grabbed it and tore it this way," Father Parnell said. He also said, they beat him until he passed out. "He sat on top of me until I passed out, completely unconscious."

Harry Dwinell lives down the street from the church. But, he's a Southern Baptist. "I don't have a dog in this hunt." But he was an eyewitness to the fight. "I stood here and watched it happen."

Dwinell says it was actually the priest who attacked the Jehovah's Witnesses. Dwinell said, "Rambo down there commenced to beat on them. I saw the first fist thrown. In fact, he was the only one throwing fist. He was in a fighting mode!"

Father Parnell says he's filing charges. But Fort Worth Police, who do not list him as a victim says, he very well could end up as the suspect.

"You know who's going to hell. He better say that rosary a whole bunch," Dwinell said.

"So, the man comes in and tells my daughter right off, he says, 'You are going to be burned into the eternal fires of Gehenna if you don't listen to what I say,'" Parnell said.

The priest said that was the match that lit the fuse. He said he is tired of Jehovah's Witnesses coming into the St. Augustine church, which is not affiliated with the Fort Worth Diocese.

He said Jehovah's Witnesses came into the church on Easter Sunday during Mass.

"They walked right in and started handing out literature while people are sitting on the pews," Parnell said.

When Jehovah's Witnesses recently came to his door, Parnell said he attempted to escort them out after one of the men allegedly knocked his Bible to the floor.

"He said, 'This place is teaching lies and I am here to bring you the truth,'" he said.

Parnell said the men then dragged him down the street and beat him.

Okay. He's full of bs.

1) JW's don't believe in hell. They believe in anhillation. When you die, and you didn't live a life pleasing to Jehova(their word for God), you just disappear. Kinda like how in some regimes that if they don't care for you, they will remove you off of the record(past and present) and make it seem like you NEVER existed. Even remove you out of photos.

2) How does he have a daughter living with him if he is a priest? I just want to know.

3) JW's for the most part have that type of crazy smile. You know, the smile where the "joy" doesn't reach the eyes? Insincere maybe, but violent? Not really.

4) JW's actually try to live a life of non-violence. Note the word try.

That I can sort of answer. First answer is that this is probably not the traditional Catholic church. Second, even in the traditional Catholic church, priests can be married and have kids. If you are an ordained minister of certain other faiths and convert to Catholicism and their priesthood, you can keep your wife and kids. The most usual route is from the Anglican or Episcopal churches to Catholic conversions.

When I was a believer, I actually was thinking of converting from Missionary Baptist to Catholic. And then I started reading the book you're supposed to read for RCA. My brain exploded.

Our boys' birth mom & her husband claim to be Jehovah's Witnesses. She and her husband beat the crap out of each other on a regular basis, though that has nothing to do with their religious claim and everything to do with what they are cramming up their noses in their spare time.

Frankly, in their case I believe they only claim to be JW so they can skip birthday & Christmas gifts and have more blow money. Oh, and so they can bitch at us about things like flying the American flag and "confusing the kids" by celebrating.

Ex is a JW and there is no hell fire or burning of any kind. You either are brought back at the End of Days to walk Heaven on Earth or if you're of the 144,000 whatnots, you can rule in the Heaven's with Jehovah. The rest just don't exist.

Unless things have changed which JW's tend to do a lot to suit their needs and keep their flock content and under control..

#3.. I totally know this one. Call me crazy but I found them soulless -like drones. As if something was missing. Entire ex-inlaws are JW's as well as Ex.

#4... Ex (while not a practicing one during our marriage) beat the hell out of my ass as well as his Dad (an elder) beat the hell out of his Mom.
His sisters hubs was abusive to her (both Jw's) and the Elders told her it was her fault.
Ex treats his new JW wife like dogshit (go figure) and tells her the "man rules.. read her bible".
Bunch of Fucktards IMO.

I hope when they die they live in a hell of eating those words page by page..no water to quench their thirst. Then they'll know how the others felt having to deal with their constant drivel.

the one time they came to our house growing up, was right after my first step-father died. like 2 weeks, and we had just moved to where we were. so there is a knok on the door, and these 2 women are standing there. i was 10 at the time. one of the women greets me with hello neighbor, and i was like 'hey' 'cause i thought she was my neighbor, then she looks at me and says, 'do you know what happens when we get old and die'? i just stood there, looking at her, thinking, wth? these are our neighbors? what kind of nutty place did we move to?

I remember when the JWs came to my house when I was a teen ager, Stupid ass bitch said my cat was evil and should be killed, I yelled for my dad because I thought she was gonna go after it, all the damn cat did was hiss at her, which he did at all strangers.

But for some reason I never did mine actually listening to the college kids who have to grunt around telling people about the Church of Latter Day Saints, they didn't shove it down your throat and most of them explained to keep their college schlorships they have to do this and I sighned a paper saying they did a great job and yada yada, then saw them at Sharky's Bar a couple nights later lmao.
