The taxi driver who allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl and buried her alive after he thought he had strangled her to death was on Friday remanded in custody, when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The accused, 26-year-old Garsha Wilson, is charged for rape, abduction, attempted murder, malicious destruction of property and cruelty to a child.
Wilson reportedly abducted the child, who was reported missing on March 22, from the Transport Centre in Half-Way-Tree, St Andrew.
It is alleged that he took her to a house in Smokey Vale, St Andrew, where he raped and strangled her until she was unconscious.
Thinking she was dead, he reportedly buried her in a shallow grave and covered it with rocks. But the girl regained consciousness and dug herself out.
The child ran for about two miles before being rescued by a motorist.
Wilson is to return to court on April 16.
I am soooo glad she regained consciousness and was able to get out and I am also glad he is stupid on vital signs. Family friend like that who needs enemies.According to the police, the man -- believed to be a family friend of the youngster -- abducted her while she was in Half-Way-Tree.
In the second article it goes on to talk about a call center being initiated April 19th which raises a question.
Are they seriously going to simply pick up a phone and CALL not making face to face contact with someone filed as a missing person and instead just take the word of whoever answers the other end?????The police said the call centre will be manned by six specially trained district constables whose sole task will be to call the families or interested parties of missing persons to find out whether these missing persons have returned home.
