Joanna Ryan Helps Save Friend From Abduction Killed In Car Crash Hours Later

BETHPAGE, N.Y. (WPIX) - A bizarre turn of events on Long Island Wednesday as the friend of an 11-year-old girl, who was with her when she was nearly abducted, was later killed in a car crash with her Mom in Hicksville.

According to detectives, the young girls were walking home from school on Hahn Ave around 3:06 p.m., when they were followed by a male who attempted to grab her in her driveway. The victim -- who has not been identified -- allegedly kicked the suspect in the leg and fled the scene with her friend, Joanna, who was later involved in a fatal car crash.

The suspect is described as a white male between 30-40 years old, about 5'1" tall, 170pounds, bald and clean shaven wearing a clean white tee shirt with a round collar and long pants. Anyone with information regarding the attempted abduction is urged to call Nassau County police.

When Joanna arrived home after the horrifying incident, she and her mother, identified as 44-year-old Barbara Ryan, were killed as they went to run an errand.

The pair were making a left turn from Central Park Ave. onto Hicksville Road in Bethpage, when a tractor trailer traveling northbound on Hicksville Road, slammed into them.

The accident set off a chain reaction crash, involving a Lincoln Town Car, Honda Sedan and Mitsubishi.

Emergency crews were forced to use the Jaws of Life to extract the mother and daughter from the car. They were rushed to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Tractor-Trailor Runs Red Light, Killing Mom, Daughter

Police say a Long Island mother and daughter were killed when a tractor-trailer ran a red light.
The accident happened Wednesday evening just before 6 p.m. Police say 44-year-old Barbara Ryan and her 11-year-old daughter Joanna were making a left turn from Central Park Avenue onto Hicksville Road in Bethpage, when the truck, traveling northbound on Hicksville Road, hit them.

The accident set off a chain reaction crash, and a Lincoln Town Car, Honda Sedan and Mitsubishi were also hit.

The crash was so bad, firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to get the mother and daughter out of the car. They were taken to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The driver of the tractor trailer and the driver of the Mitsubishi were not hurt. The driver of the Lincoln is in stable condition with shoulder and rib pain. The driver of the Honda suffered shoulder and rib pain.

Police say the driver was not impaired, and so far, no charges have been filed. But the driver could still get a possible summons for failing to yield.

I don't view "running away from a bad guy" as a "good deed". That's what you're supposed to do. I find it weird to even call it "helps save friend". Who would really expect anyone to just stand there?

She was supposed to get kidnapped and "the forces" were mad and had a truck slam into her.
Her time was up no matter what she did.
That was her sole purpose in life - to "help" her friend and "the forces" took her.
It's all a massive coincidence.
