Dress right or Evelyn Burgess will shoot you in the head

Police in Ohio say a woman shot her cousin to death during an argument that started because one woman didn't think the other was dressed properly for Easter dinner.

Columbus police say 19-year-old Danielle Pickens showed up Sunday night at the home of Evelyn Burgess wearing a T-shirt and jean shorts. Detective Steven Eppert says 42-year-old Burgess told officers she thought the outfit was inappropriate and disrespectful.

The women fought. Police say Pickens walked outside to leave and Burgess shot her in the head with a handgun. Pickens died at a hospital early Monday.

Eppert says Burgess told investigators she didn't mean to shoot Pickens.

When my grandma had a problem with the way one of my cousins dressed for family dinners she said something to her about it. When my cousin kept dressing inappropriately my grandma stopped hosting the dinners at her home...maybe she did it wrong? lol.. Seriously who even starts an argument because of that?..and pulling a gun on her in the first place...just wow. This one smells of jealousy, but now she wont have to worry about just one girl cause her husbands about to be living the single life! lol

OH woman sentenced in skimpy Easter outfit killing

An Ohio woman who police say shot a relative to death amid a dispute over a skimpy Easter outfit has been sentenced to 18 years to life in prison.

Forty-two-year-old Evelyn Burgess pleaded guilty in Columbus Tuesday to murder in the April 4 death of 19-year-old Danielle Pickens, a cousin.

The Columbus Dispatch reports Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Stephen McIntosh sentenced Burgess after saying it's likely not even she knows why she went after Pickens with a gun.

Pickens wore jeans shorts to Burgess' home for Easter dinner. Prosecutors say Burgess became upset thinking the shorts were too short and that her husband was looking at them.
