Marylynne Jackson arrested After Teachers See Her Severely Beaten Child

EL MIRAGE -- A 45-year-old woman was arrested for child abuse after her teen daughter showed up at school with injuries on her upper body.

On Friday, El Mirage police officers were called to Dysart Elementary School for a report of a child with bruises and welts.

According to the El Mirage Police Department, the 14-year-old told officers that her mother hit her with an electrical cord the night before.

Officers found bruises and welts on the girl's arms, shoulder and back.

Officers were able to track down the mother, Marylynne Jackson, and arrest her. She is being held on child abuse charges.

Child Protective Services was called in to investigate the incident

Why do these stories still surprise me? After all that I read on a daily basis, I am still shocked and appalled that these kind of people are so numerous and still capable of reproducing.

I am feeling a movie coming out of this....PRECIOUS.......okay, bad on my part for that reference.

I'm glad that those who need someone to stand up for them are there for those who have no voice.

As for the smiling mugshots: I really don't know why there are some people who for whatever reason a camera is around have to pose and I think this whore is just one of those people. Sure, her mug shot has GLAMOUR SHOTS written all over it and her head takes up all the room on this photo but she's being charged with child abuse and this may be her last smile for a while..oh and thank god for that.

According to El Mirage Police Spokesperson William Louis, mom Marylynne Jackson whipped her 14-year-old daughter last week for wearing makeup to school.

Dysart Elementary school officials called police on Friday after discovering red welts on the victim's forearms and shoulder.

Louis said the mother told authorities she had given her daughter two choices after discovering the makeup: get her hair chopped off or get whipped.

When questioned by police, Jackson reportedly said it was just discipline and that she'd been "whopping [the daughter] her whole life."

Jackson also apparently admitted to whipping the girl 10 to 12 times on the day in question with a electrical cord, but insisted the action was not child abuse, but instead disiciple.

El Mirage police booked Jackson into jail on one felony count of child abuse.

Child Protective Services has placed the daughter with an adult family member.

I am with you LadyCygnet.....That's not discipline, not one bit. Proper discipline is to deter them from doing the same thing over again. To teach, not to instill fear. That's another shit all together, it's called abuse.

Yeah that mom deserves to be beaten to death with an electrical cord. But ok, is it odd that a 14 year old is still in elementary school? Or did I miss something?

Im not sure maybe failed a grade?
Here 14 would normally be in grade 9 but also depends on when birthday falls

Okay, I think the mom is obviously in the need of an asswhupping.
I mean, the girl had makeup on. She wasn't turning tricks on the side of the road!
Those whip marks look horrible. I had cousins sporting those same things when I was growing up. Jesus.
