Mary O'Neil drives 7 kids to the movie while drunk

WILLISTON, Vt. --

A Williston woman accused of driving seven children while under the influence of alcohol pleaded not guilty to the charges in court Thursday.

Williston police arrested Mary O'Neil Friday at about 6:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the Best Buy in town.

Police said officers stopped O'Neil after a 911 caller reported that the driver forced oncoming cars to pull over.

According to police, a breathalyzer indicated O'Neil had a blood-alcohol level of 0.379. Police said any more alcohol would have likely killed her. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.

Police said the women was bringing the kids to the movies.

I suppose she considered herself a "high-functioning" drunk.

I understand it can be hard to disappoint the kids, and admit that mom is way too drunk because she thought about herself before them, but I'd say it's a good welcome to the rest of their lives, which they're more likely to have if mommy stays home and sleeps it off.
