More than a dozen police vehicles and the SWAT team Thursday afternoon are at a neighborhood west of St. James Drive after a man threatened to commit suicide, a police spokesman said.
More than a half-dozen loud "pops" could be heard coming from the area of the home about 12:40 p.m., but it wasn't immediately clear what those noises were.
Officials were called about 9:15 a.m. about the incident in the 5100 block of Northwest Ever Road, said Officer Tom Nichols, police spokesman.
Although the man initially threatened to harm police, the "situation has de-escalated," Nichols said.
The man in the home is in "emotional distress" and police are in "constant contact" with him, Nichols said.
Nichols did not know whether the man had a gun.
