Hundreds of knives found in home of man on watch list
CHICAGO -
A weekend search warrant turned up 1600 knives and five guns after sheriff's officers and U.S. Marshall agents searched the home of a man who attempted to pass through security at the Daley Center last week with hunting knives.

Kevin Long, 48 of Chicago, has a criminal record and was on a judicial watch list when he tried to enter the building carrying four knives Tuesday afternoon.

Long's briefcase set off the metal detector prompting deputies to ask what was in his briefcase.

Long replied, " Just papers".

Long told deputies he forgot the knives were in his briefcase even though a receipt showed they were purchased the same day.

During the raid of Long's home, officers also uncovered several pieces of paper that included names of sheriffs and police officers.

Long has an extensive criminal record including a March 2008 arrest at the Daley Center where he was caught in the judge's chambers.

Long faces 48 weapon related charges and is being held in the Cook County Jail on $350,000 bond.
