JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Hidden-camera video of a babysitter slapping an 11-month-old child, throwing things and handling the boy violently was evidence enough for police to charge the 53-year-old woman with battery on a child.

"It was extremely difficult," the boy's father told Cho. "My wife started watching for the first few moments and couldn't watch any more, and that's when we went ahead and called the police and got them involved."

The family said Campbell was referred to them through friends and she listed her main employer as a local church.

"This is coming from someone you would've never thought, coming out of this lady. But the video doesn't lie," that father said.

About two months ago, the father said he noticed his youngest child had a black eye, but he assumed it may have been caused by an older brother.

The first thing he said he noticed on the tape was that she ignored the kids much of the time while she watched television. He said that got him upset enough to fire her that day.

He said he didn't discover the assault until hours later after he put the kids to bed and he watched the rest of the tape.

"Of course I'm angry. That's an understatement," the father told Cho. "If I had known then what I know now, I may be the one sitting in jail at this moment, so it may be good it played out the way it did."

The video was recorded on Tuesday in a Mandarin home. The next day, Jeannine Campbell was arrested.

In the videodisturbing to watch, the baby can be seen picked up violently and slung by his arms into a playpen. Minutes later, the babysitter kicks a bouncy ball the child is playing with at the boy, then picks up the ball and hurls it at the baby's head so hard, it knocks him over.

Later, the babysitter can be seen slapping the boy on the back of the head so hard he falls over.

Toward the end of the 9-minute video, it appears the babysitter got mad while trying to put socks on the child. According to the arrest report, Campbell swatted the boy 11 times, then kicked him.

I am in utter shock and terror knowing that a woman like this could ever possibly by some stroke of fucked up luck (not like I haven't had enough of that lately) be watching my babies. Its shit like this that makes me NEVER want to leave them. As I sat watching that tape all I could think was of how that mother felt and how that woman proceeded to beat and throw things at that child who was (I'm pretty sure) crying. Just saw this on I saw your nanny. I would have killed that bitch. I should not have watched that video. I was crying and angry and it's not even my child. She is so damn lucky she was already gone by the time the baby's parents saw that tape. That was so heartbreaking. Poor baby I just wanted to cuddle him (or her, can't tell for sure in the video). This happened near me. I hope she gets out on bail and someone gives her a taste of her own medicine. WTH could she possibly have been that angry about? I watched the whole video, and I'm still holding my daughter close and trying not to vomit. HOW COULD SHE?!

And he's still crawling at 11 months. At no point did I see her getting down on the floor with him, playing with him, cuddling with him, or trying to help him walk.

Her husband hasn't watched the video of the nannycam yet, but he still seems to think that she's innocent. Unless his wife has an evil twin, that was her. I feel bad for any of the children she has "cared for" in the past 35 years. I suspect that this poor, sweet baby wasn't her first victim.

I am very thankful that I found the daycare that my children attend. It's hard enough having to go to work and leave them with strangers, but I know that my kids love the people at their daycare. It's a family run, all women school setting type daycare. It's big, seperate class rooms by ages and they do so much with them as far as potty training, arts and crafts, learning, circle time, and outside play when the weather is nice. My oldest son likes his teacher so much that he often just shouts out in the middle of the day "I love you Miss Pam"...and my youngest, he's a snuggle bug...every morning after I kiss him goodbye he goes right up and hops in his teachers lap and starts twirling her hair as he does with mine. So, it's definitely comforting to know that they get treated the way they are supposed to be treated there. If I ever had to bring a stranger into my home, I think I'd be setting up video surveillance from day one!

I totally know how you feel. My daughter goes to daycare 2 days a week and whenever I see this kind of thing, I start going over her with a fine tooth comb physically and emotionally to see if I can figure out if anything bad is happening to her, and it makes me want to keep her home even though the person she goes to daycare with is a friend that I trust. I start suspecting everyone of hurting her and worrying that I am going to be that mom that says "I had no idea!" Ugh.

I did watch the whole video and I can't tell you how many times I cried and wanted to scoop that baby up and give him a cuddle. She left the room several times only to come back in and hit the child who was obviously crying. I mean, how mad do you have to be to actually want to come back into a room and beat a kid that is crying because you just beat him? Seeing a video is definitely a lot worse than what my imagination can come up with.

I will be very curious to see what her husband says after seeing the video. I wonder if someone could come up with a justification for her behavior after seeing that.

For those of you who didn't watch but kinda want to know what happened in the vid.

First, she throws that baby into the playpen, and from what it looks like, she starts slapping the baby leaves, goes back and starts getting on to the baby (that's what it looks like from her body language). Then she bends over in there and from what it looks like her body is moving leading me to believe she is smacking him. She pulls him out later and he starts playing with a ball in the corner. She picks him up by the arm really ugly and sits him down in the middle of the floor. She wanders off, and the baby starts playing with the ball. The baby goes out of the camera range cause the ball is moving. She gets him later on and put him back in the middle and kicks the ball to him, it misses him and hits the seat that's in the middle and he starts playing with it, she comes back around, picks up the ball and throws it at him hard! It hits him in the head and he falls over crying. She goes and spanks him! He's lying on the floor heaving from crying. She comes by and throws a towel at him, and then comes around again and throws another towel at him! He crawls to it, I'm thinking to clean his face. She comes around later on and gets him and starts spanking him cause he doesn't have his socks on. and spanks him and spanks. After putting on one sock, she starts slapping him in the face. Then puts on the other sock and kicks him. She leaves him there, then picks up later. She handles him very roughly when picking him up, and the video ends.

All of this occurred in a span of about 2 hours. Like I said, if there was sound......that baby would've been screaming bloody murder.
