For the record I never said the word trash. If im correct I think the term I used in an earlier post was "city slicker." Im not racist far from it. I said black and redneck. Never will you ever hear or see me say the "N" word which from my neck of the woods is sadly still used. I have been refered to as a white person before. It dosnt bother me. People have thicker skins then you give them credit for. What I do see coming to light is the differences in the area that we both grew up.

Colour and creed make no difference to me when I go shopping. Enviroment however does play a role. I would rather pay a dollar more somewhere if the employees are friendly and helpful. The more respectful the more money im going to spend. Crowds play a factor for me as well. Im sorry if you dont agree with my wording, my intention was never to offended. Well, apparently, Moonlilly, you think "environment" depends on race. Just as a refresher, here's what you said:

This is stereotypical racism. There's no other way to interpret it. If you meant something different, you should have hit the Backspace button a few times and retooled the sentence a bit. But you didn't. You even added "but oh well".

A statement like "I prefer the white walmarts" can't be undone with the standard "I have black friends," defense. Comedians make fun of crackers like yourself.

Echo was understandably taken aback by your comment. Sometimes you have to suffer the consequences for the statements you make, especially when, instead of apologizing and making it clear that you didn't mean it like that, you defiantly stand by what was a painfully ignorant comment.

Odds are, the quality you encounter at various Walmarts has to do with socio-economics rather than race. Unfortunately, in this country, socio-economics have been closely tied to race. The "black Walmarts" you've encountered probably had more poor folk in them as opposed to "white Walmarts", which is what accounts for the disparity in service.

Echo was brash in her response to your comment, but now is not the time for you to wave the anti-PC flag. This isn't about what's PC and what's not. It's about what sounds ignorant and what doesn't. If you don't fancy yourself ignorant, I'd find another way to say what you mean if I were you.

I called her attitude "po dunk" and believe me, we have many po dunk towns in the Northeast. Redneck may be used to describe a person but it does not hold positive connotations. I begrudge no one regarding a hard days work but unfortunately that is not the image that is conjured up no matter the origins of the word. It is commonly used to describe Poor White Trash, and Moon used it in comparison to "City Trash" so take it up with her.

Im not going to back peddle and re-word what I said. What I said came out wrong and out of context. Different areas of the country have different issues. Im pretty sure it would have been funnier and not to some if I would have been knocking the white trailer trash. But no I said something about the area closer to the cities here that are black areas. I dont take back what I said. I only appolgise for the way it came out. That was wrong but whats been done cannot be un-done.

Since redneck seems to have many different meanings in the various parts of the country I will just say that here it means someone who is country, in a rural area where there is farming, fishing, and or crabing. Someone like myself is redneck because I go out and work outside every day. Along with various other things.

As this has taken a turn away from the orginal topic this will be my last post to it. It wasnt here to debate racism but the act of someone who thought it would be funny to say what they did over the PA system. That turn was my responsibility and im sorry for that.

Here on my side of town, it's predominantly Latino, so I'd fit right in only I don't shop there often mostly 'cause crazy folk hang out there, and I'm not just talking Latino's either. I have witnessed, a white lady screaming at a box of cereal as spit spewed about her, black folks relaxing at the bbq display and bringing out the meat they just bought and a Latino woman yelling obscenities at the top of her lungs as her toddler sit waiting in the middle of the isle.
Seriously, as it goes in most towns it depends on what part of town you live in what race of people tend to shop there it's just socio-economic. I stopped at a Walmart once way upper North side of town close to where my MIL lives and couldn't believe my eyes. It seemed the isles were paved in gold. I see now why she says she loves shopping at Walmart.

What this kid(s) did was a punk thing to do, teenagers are much punks.
