Child Left In Business For Hours,Parents Left Child At Birthday Party

    WARREN, Mich.
-- Warren police are investigating after a 3-year-old boy was left alone inside a business for hours.

Police said the boy was having a birthday party at Little Caesars Caesarland, located at 11155 Eagleman in Warren.

The manager of the store called police at 9 p.m. when they noticed the boy was there with no adults.

Officers were unable to find the boy's parents.

The child was taken into protective custody, and he was placed into foster care.

On Monday around 1 p.m., corporate security from Caesarland contacted Warren police and said a male had been asking about his missing 3-year-old son.

"This is a disturbing and outrageous situation that the person responsible for the care of this 3-year-old child would take over 36 hours before inquiring as to the whereabouts of their child," said Warren Police Chief William Dwyer. "Our detectives will conduct a thorough investigation and then report their findings to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office for criminal prosecution if deemed necessary."

Both parents live in Warren but are not married.

Warren police are questioning both parents, and said they may be charged with child abandonment and child abuse.

Poor little boy, I'm guessing the very worst thing in the world is to be completely unmissed by everybody.

It's gonna be a round robin of "grandma thought mom had him and mom thought dad had him and dad thought grandma had him". And NOBODY thought to double check his where abouts.

Yeah its all just coming out now and its only been few hours since 1 of the parents called the Little Cesars and asked if he was there!!!
This is MON and they left him thyere on SAT.
If you click on the link they are doing a survey and seeing who has ever left their kids behind and noticed later.
And its been a round robin already of whos to blame

I remember when I was 14 I used to babysit a little boy Michael who lived with his parents by us in a cottage.
They were drinking and 2 boatloads went out swimming on the sand bars.
In the drinking they came back in and each thought Michael was on the other boat.
I sat on that beach for hours watching them drag for his tiny body
When they brought him in his little foot was sticking out of a blanket and the cops and divers were all crying.
Thats what can happen when you forget something so important.
This wasnt like that but still a pervert couldve been there waiting.

Forgotten on his birthday? A day that was supposed to be all about him? My heart just broke for this little guy :(

    Police:
Warren parents left toddler at Caesarland birthday party
Warren -- The parents of a Warren toddler could face abuse and abandonment charges after police say they took their child to celebrate his 3rd birthday at Caesarland on Saturday night and left without him.

Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said the child's parents, a 33-year-old woman and 41-year-old man, took the boy to the Chuck E. Cheese-style restaurant for a party. Around 9 p.m., the manager spotted the child and couldn't find anyone to claim him. Warren police were called and contacted Child Protective Services, which placed the boy in foster care.

Dwyer said the child's parents were questioned today and both claim that up until Sunday, they both thought the other adult had the child or that he could be with a grandmother, who lives in Detroit.
Even so, Dwyer said the mother never contacted police and waited until today to call Caesarland to inquire about her son. The child's father today went to the restaurant on Hoover between 10 Mile and 11 Mile.

"I've never heard of a situation like this in all my years where you have a birthday party for a 3-year-old and everybody forgets about him," said Dwyer, adding the parents never reported the incident to police and waited a full 36 hours to check with the restaurant.
    [...]
The parents, who reside in the same Warren apartment complex, were questioned and released. The child remains in foster care.

Police say the couple does not have a prior criminal record nor have they previously been accused of abuse.

I would love, love to interview these parents get their take on exactly why they would not even check to see where their son is until days after the party. I can hear it now, "well, it's like this and that didn't happen like they said, oh, yeah, its not like that at all"........WTF ever. I don't think it's by accident that this child that they should cherish and protect is living with grandma and not them, 'course makes me wonder about grandma too. Day's fuckn days. People are useless and pathetic.

Instead of a nice memory, and early one he'll tuck away, it's not a happy one. Nope, he will forever remember how unimportant he felt, how forgotten.

    So sorry little one.

What a beautiful little boy!! How sad that nobody cared enough to notice him after the "show" was over. God I hope he finds someone to love him and let him know he is loved.

An arrest warrant has been issued for the parents of toddler who was left at a Warren children's restaurant for days after his third birthday party.

After completing an investigation into the March 13 party at Caesarland Restaurant, the Macomb County Prosecutors said they have decided to charge the boy's parents with second-degree child abuse, which is a felony that carries a four-year sentence.

Warren police said they have made arrangements with the boy's parents, Talisha Darlene Johns, 33, and Dion Musekela Johnson, 41, both of Warren to turn themselves in on Monday.

Thirty-seventh District Court Judge Matthew Sabaugh will immediately arraign the Johnsons on the charges.

The child was placed in protective custody after his parents allegedly forgot him at Caesarland on Eagleman Street and didn't call police for more than 36 hours.

A Warren couple accused of leaving their toddler son at a Caesarland restaurant after his birthday party insisted today the ordeal has been a misunderstanding and they'll do whatever it takes to get the boy back.
    [...]

They both broke down in tears this afternoon after being released on a $15,000 personal recognizance bond. They are scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing April 1.

"I want to clear my name, and I want my son back," Dion Johnson said as he exited Warren police headquarters. "We miss him a great deal."

Relatives claimed today that they did not discover the boy was missing until Monday. That's when they say the boy's mother called Caesarland and the father went up to the restaurant.

Police said the parents, who live in separate apartments in the same complex, were also brought in for questioning Monday.

Authorities say they both claimed the child's great-grandmother took him to the party, and they "assumed she was taking him home."

The parents told police that up until the day after the party, each thought the other had the child or that he could be with the great-grandmother who resides in Detroit.

But police today said they now believe the family knew as early as Saturday night that the child wasn't accounted for.

"It did come up Saturday night," Warren Police Detective John Pierce said. "All indications are the people responsible for the child dropped the ball."

The boy is currently in foster care. A hearing is expected to decide if the boy is a ward of the court or is to be returned to his parents.

“The mother had apparently called the father Sunday and asked if he had the 3-year-old. He said, ‘I don’t have him.’ She calls the grandmother and she said she didn’t have him,” Dwyer said. “She does nothing.”
    [...]

Police said the mother called Caesarland on March 15 to inquire about the boy. The father reportedly went there to ask about him in person.

Dwyer said the parents never contacted Warren police, who were alerted to the situation by Caesarland corporate security officers.

A Warren couple accused of leaving their 3-year-old son at a restaurant following his birthday celebration have been ordered to take parenting classes.

A judge also ordered Talisha Johnson and Dion Johnson to participate in therapy and a have visitation with their son, 3, who is temporarily a ward of the state.

In March, both parents pleaded no contest to reduced child abuse charges.
    [...]

A judge said if the parents abide by the judge's orders, the boy may be returned to their custody within the year.

Police said the Johnsons left the restaurant believing the other had their son or that he was with a grandmother, and didn't ask about his whereabouts for about 72 hours. They are trying to regain custody of the boy, who is in foster care.

Ronald Dixon, Talisha Johnson's attorney, said the agreement was fair.
