I didn't put the names in the headline because she hasn't been identified and he hasn't been arrested.
Town police said this afternoon they expect to make an arrest "any time" in the murder of a woman whose body was found in a freezer inside a house at 1184 Gold Star Highway.
A press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m.
About 10:20 Sunday night, a man came in to the Groton City Police Department lobby and reported an "unusual incident" in Groton Town. The city dispatcher and shift commander gave the information to town police and detained the man until town officers arrived. At that point the investigation was turned over to Groton Town police.http://www.theday.com/article/201003...100309741/1017Police do not have anyone in custody and offered no further information on the death. Town police did say that reports in other media outlets that someone is in custody are incorrect.
Joyce Ceravolo said her husband, Dominick Ceravolo, rents the house to a woman named Madeline Brisson. Police would not say if Brisson was the victim found inside.
Ceravolo said her husband went to the house Friday and Saturday and knocked on the door because Brisson was behind on her rent. She said she heard Brisson recently lost her job. She did not know where she worked.
"My husband went there on Friday and knocked on her door and got no answer," said Ceravolo. "He went there on Saturday and a guy answered the door and he said that she went away for a couple of days."
Ceravolo said her husband did not know the man.
She also noted that her son on Friday saw Brisson's chocolate Labrador running loose in the yard, which was rare because the dog was always with Brisson.
"I never met her," said Ceravolo. "She paid her rent on time until recently."
I've been reading at this site all morning. They've since taken the guy and the victim's name out of all the articles.
http://www.wfsb.com/news/22772536/detail.htmlA woman's body was found in the freezer of a Groton home Sunday night.
Sources told Eyewitness News that Lewis Otero walked into the police department on Sunday and confessed to putting a body in the freezer of his Gold Star Highway home.
Police said the body was discovered a short time later.
Investigators were at the home Monday morning and detectives in HAZMAT suits were combing the property.
Police said they were waiting for the medical examiner to positively confirm the body is that of Otero's girlfriend, Madeleine Brisson, who lives with Otero in the home.
The landlord of the property runs an auto garage business behind the home and said he knocked on the home's door on Friday to get rent and no one answered.
The landlord, Dominic Ceravolo, said it thought it was strange that no one answered and that he went back on Saturday to try again.
Ceravolo said a familiar man, who he believed to be Otero, answered the door.
"He came to the door and I said, 'Where's Madeleine?' He said 'She should be back in a couple of days,' " Ceravolo said.
Ceravolo said he keeps a close eye on the property and never saw the man before this weekend.
Police said they had questioned Otero at the police department, but had not arrested him.
