UNION COUNTY, S.C. -- Union police said that an infant was punched in the head during a fight her parents were having over money.
Tiffany Greene, 20, said she was fighting with her husband, Brian Greene, 21, because he is unemployed and she has been paying the bills.
Tiffany Greene told police that after the argument went on for some time, she and her husband started hitting each other.
She said she was trying to leave the home with their infant daughter and, as the fighting continued, she tried to call 911. She said her husband grabbed the phone away from her and disconnected the call.
Tiffany Greene said her husband then tried to hit her but missed, hitting the baby in the side of the head.
She said at that point, her husband became “very frantic” about the situation. She took the infant to her mother’s house, and EMS was called to transport them both to the hospital.
Police said doctors found bruises and scratches on Tiffany Greene and a bruise on the side of the infant’s head.
Officers said they could not determine the primary aggressor in the fight, so both Tiffany and Brian Greene were charged with criminal domestic violence. Brian Greene was also charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.
The baby was placed in the custody of a grandmother.
The Greenes will be required to attend domestic violence classes before the court will consider returning their child to them.
