Ingle was to be sentenced today before Mobile County Circuit Judge Michael Youngpeter after his conviction Jan. 27 on charges of rape, sex abuse and sodomy.
Ingle faced possible sentences of 10 years to life in prison on the rape and sodomy charges, as well as a sentence of up to 20 years for sex abuse of a child under 12.
He had been out of jail since the conviction on $35,000 bail.
His stepdaughter, Rebecca McEvoy, died Jan. 14, 2008, of injuries suffered in a two-car collision 10 days earlier on Dauphin Island Parkway. Her father, Aden McEvoy, also a Chickasaw police officer, was driving a van that collided with a pickup driven by Gregory Coleman. Both men were injured in the crash.
Ingle's trial was delayed several times since his January 2006 arrest. Ingle's defense attorney argued that, after Rebecca's death, Ingle was denied his constitutional right to cross-examine his accuser.
Statements Rebecca made to investigators were excluded as evidence during the trial, but not statements she made to others.

During the two-day trial, a doctor who examined McEvoy at the University of South Alabama Children's and Women's Hospital testified that the girl had been sexually abused.
Dr. James Hanley said that Rebecca, too scared to speak, wrote her answers to his questions on a piece of paper, including identifying her stepfather as her abuser.
On Wednesday, prosecutors showed that piece of paper to jurors during closing arguments. The phrases "Bob L. Ingle," "clothes off," "just me and him" and "it happen more than once" were written in uneven, childlike lettering.
"This is Rebecca," said Assistant District Attorney Ella Byrd, holding up a framed photo of the girl. "You heard from Rebecca the last couple of days."
Prosecutors also said Rebecca had recounted the abuse to a best friend. Earlier in the week, Youngpeter cleared the courtroom of spectators while that friend, now 13, took the witness stand.
Rebecca's 25-year-old sister told jurors that while riding in her car in Chickasaw in 2006, Rebecca told her about being sexually abused.
