Geryl Hill, a former Kroger security guard and confessed criminal, is now charged with another jaw dropping crime.
Police say the 31-year-old man used his position of power to rape a 24-year-old April Hall while he was on the job at the Kroger in Poplar Plaza.
"It's kind of devastating, " explained Hall. "I'm just still trying to get over it right now."
Investigators say the plain clothed security guard accused Hall and her cousin of stealing, then told a uniformed guard to follow them upstairs to conduct a search.
When nothing was found in one lady's purse, police say the suspect told the cousin and the uniformed guard to go downstairs and wait for police.
Court records say that's when Hill took what he wanted "forcefully " and that the two were in the secluded office alone for about fifteen minutes.
"It felt like hours...he was fiddling with me, " recalls Hall.
Fearing she'd go to jail, the victim says she "reluctantly agreed" and didn't tell police until the next day. She was also concerned because she says Hill identified himself as an undercover cop and she had a previous theft charge.
Documents show the assault didn't stop in the office. Hill got her number and apparently "called her throughout the night."
She showed us twenty text messages Hill sent her. We called the number they came from Hill answered saying Hall is not telling the truth.
"That's supposed to be the person that's protecting you," said one surprised shopper. "And to hear that, that's sad. Real bad."
State records show Hill is a fully licensed, armed, security guard. A Background check also shows he was charged with aggravated statutory rape in 2006. Just last year he pled guilty to a lessor charge and was granted a suspended sentence.
The State Department of Commerce and Insurance, which regulates security guards, issued this statement, "Upon notification of the conviction in February 2009, the Department of Commerce & Insurance authorized its legal staff to seek revocation of Mr. Hill's license"
A Kroger spokesman says they're just as appalled as anyone else and that the company is cooperating with police on the investigation. He says Security Point handles the store's security and that he didn't know Hill had a previous record.
