IRS worker's widow sues Texas suicide pilot's wife

Thought this was interesting, wondering how others feel about it

IRS worker's widow sues Texas suicide pilot's wife

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100224/..._crash_texas_1
AUSTIN, Texas – The widow of the Internal Revenue Service employee killed when a Texas man crashed his plane into the agency's Austin office is suing the pilot's widow.
Attorney Daniel Ross says the lawsuit against Sheryl Stack seeks to determine if the pilot left behind insurance policies or other assets.
Ross represents Valerie Hunter, whose 68-year-old husband Vernon Hunter was killed last week when authorities say Joseph Stack deliberately crashed his single-engine plane into the IRS office.
Joseph Stack left behind a lengthy anti-government Internet posting blaming the IRS for personal problems spanning decades.
The lawsuit filed Monday says Sheryl Stack should have warned others about her h
    usband.
A message seeking comment was left Tuesday with a family spokesman for Sheryl Stack.

Shitty. I mean, I see where the IRS worker's widow is coming from, but she's suing a woman who's going through something just as bad as she is.

I hope she's not out for blood and they can come to a reasonable settlement.

She's a widow not a government worker and victims of these kind of events ALWAYS sue especially if there is someone to sue.
I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking.

that is asumming that the wife knew what he had planned and could have stopped him if she knew. I'm guessing she didn't know. not too many people plan this kind of thing and tell people what they are gonna do. The one responsible is dead and I don't think taking everything the pilot's widow has left is really gonna make you feel any better about your husband being killed by him.

But that is just me I doubt any of the attorneys involved feel the same as I do.

I just happen to know the widow of a pilot who was sued by everyone on board the plane her husband was flying and crashed. She suffered just as much of a tragedy as they did, she certainly didn't know he was going to crash, he hadn't even flown out of his "home" airport so she didn't keep him up late by snoring/talking/etc.

So not only did she lose her husband, she lost everything. Only a couple of people on board that flight left behind minor children. Of the passengers, there were a couple that left behind one minor child. They had three children and lost everything. She had married him right out of high school, didn't have any college, is basically unemployable and what little money she got from the airline for her husband's death was taken away by the other victims' families even though they had already received LARGE settlements from the airline. People are cruel. Those families are probably patting themselves on the back for destroying the lives of four innocent people who were effected as much by this tragedy as they were, possibly even more so because she'll always remember that many innocent people lost their lives because of her husband's mistake.

Actually, no it's not assuming the wife knew anything. Married people are legally attached. When I die, my any creditors can go after my husband for my debt. If I injure or kill someone before I die, their family can sue my husband.

The one responsible is dead and I don't think taking everything the pilot's widow has left is really gonna make you feel any better about your husband being killed by him.
Maybe it's not about feeling better. Maybe the husband was the primary breadwinner, and the wife will lose her home because she can't make the payments on her own.

But that is just me I doubt any of the attorneys involved feel the same as I do.
'Fraid not. Wrongful death suits are extremely common.

Seeing as that she is Government employee widow, she stands to gain from the accidental death clause in the life insurance policy, as well as collecting any and all government benefits her husband would have received.

So she will be just fine without suing the wife of the pilot.

She just wants some sort of revenge.....and honestly I am not sure I can blame her.

    I would be pissed too!

It won't. Even if she doesn't need the money, she has a legitimate claim. Consider the OJ case. The families of the deceased filed a wrongful death suit in civil court. They didn't need the money, but legally, it was determined they were owed some compensation. If OJ had died, they could have sued his estate, which is essentially what is happening here.

And, frankly, I find your obvious distain for a woman you know nothing about absolutely disgusting. She's a widow for christ's sake. Have some class.
