Heather Long is not a good momma

Authorities have accused a Maple Hill woman of shaking her infant son and breaking his leg.

Heather Renee Long, 21, of Brady Lane, was charged Monday by Onslow County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Getty with two counts of intentional child abuse causing serious bodily injury, assault causing serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault on a child under the age of 12, misdemeanor child abuse and simple assault.

Long is accused of abusing her son over the course of four months, beginning in November 2009 when she struck her then two-month-old son with her open hand twice, causing a severe black eye on the left side of his face. In January, Long fractured her son’s left tibia midshaft by pulling on his leg while he was laying in his bassinet. And in February, Long caused a bilateral retinal hemorrhage, multiple brain bleeds and chest bruises by shaking her son, all according to arrest warrants.

Long’s bond was set at $80,000. She is scheduled for a first court appearance today.

OMFG.

Long claims that on at least one occasion, she was mad at her husband and took it out on her son by hitting him in the face.

In a separate incident she shook her son with enough force to cause hemorrhaging and skull fractures.

One of the people that commented on the story posted what the blotter said.

I raise my bull shit flag on the "leg stuck in a bassinet." Is it even possible to have a baby's leg stuck in a bassinet? I know when my son was a baby his bassinet had sides that were fully enclosed in fabric. So.. uh.. can someone please explain?

NARRATIVE:

Arrestee Renee Long (Hartsfield) was arrested on February 22, 2010, for two counts of Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury, two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, one count of Misdemeanor Child Abuse, one count of Assault on a Child under 12, and one count of Simple Assault.

On February 18, 2010, at approximately 2:07 PM, Arrestee admitted while being interviewed, that she had deliberately assaulted her now five month old son. Between November 16, 2009, and November 18, 2009, while alone with the victim, Arrestee admitted that she was frustrated with her husband and hit the victim who was at that time two months old on the left side of his face in the eye causing a severe black eye to the right side of his face. She did this because he was crying. When the victim continued to cry, she hit him again.

On January 5, 2010, in the middle of the night, Arrestee changed the victim’s diaper and put him back in his bassinet. Arrestee claimed not to have noticed that his leg was caught in the side of the bassinet. Arrestee pulled and tugged the victim with enough force to fracture his left tibia.

On February 9, 2010, at approximately 3:00 PM, Victim began crying and Arrestee shook him twice in a short period of time with enough force to cause bilateral retinal hemorrhage, multiple brain bleeds, skull fracture, and chest bruises.

Hey everyone...
Not sure if anyone still looks here or will ever see this but for those of you that do here is an update on Andrew and the demon "egg donor" as we refer to her.

First off - I am Cory's (Andrew's father) girlfriend. We are currently expecting our own little boy in February and Andrew is excited to be having a little brother. We plan to get married within the next year and proceed with a step-parent adoption to terminate her rights.

Andrew just turned the big 2 on September 14th. He is a happy and healthy and very, very, very active little boy. You can not tell that he ever went through any trauma although we have the evidence to prove it :(

Unfortuantly, she gets visitation. Cory does have full custody though, but there is nothing he can do to stop this until the adoption. She gets him every 1, 2, and 4th Sundays of every month from 1pm-7pm. And they are pushing to get triple their time when they haven't even been having visitation long. But, that is not going to happen. I hate sending him with them because they drive a shitty vehicle that is torn all to pieces and their ac doesn't work. So when he gets back he is really red and very hot. Oh, and they believe in recording us when we meet to drop him off and they bring him back. Not sure why but whatever floats their boat.

Out of all this, she only got 9 months house arrest. Which she is off of now. and 3 years probation and only spent 18 days in jail before her corrupt parents bailed her out.

But other than dealing with her and the stupidity of her family. Andrew is doing great in his father and my care.

Thank you for the update @kkillette91. I'm very happy to hear Andrew is doing so well. Not happy to hear she nearly kills her kid and can take him unsupervised for six hours. Hopefully psychotherapy, and I do stress the "psycho", and anger management courses are part of a court order.

Please update us on the outcome of the adoption proceedings. I really hope everything goes as planned. That woman should not have a right to be with any child unsupervised. JMO
