The parents of a 1-year-old boy found on a porch in Miller County Thursday night are in jail and the baby found unaccompanied on a porch near Kaiser Thursday night is in protective custody.
Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott said in a press release issued Saturday that investigators were able to identify the boy and his parents, but did not release how.
That investigation spanned at least Miller and Benton counties and included representatives of at least six offices including the Mid-Missouri Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force.
According the release, the boy’s mother, Corina M. White, was identified and located by Miller County investigators Friday morning.
After brief questioning, she was taken into custody and transported to the Miller County Jail, according to the release. A warrant for her arrest was issued Friday night that charged her with one Class C felony count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the First Degree. Bond was set at $300,000.
The baby’s father, Calvin M. White, was taken into custody Friday afternoon by Benton County officers after “being summoned to a call regarding suspicious activity,” according to the release.
Calvin White was arrested and taken to the Miller County Jail on an unrelated warrant. A search warrant was obtained and executed on his residence Friday afternoon by the Miller County Sheriff’s Department and the Mid-Missouri Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force.
A related warrant for White’s arrest was issued Friday night, charging him with one Class B felony count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the First Degree, according to the release. Bond was set at $300,000.
The baby has been temporarily transferred to the state’s custody and is currently in foster care awaiting a custody hearing.
