DETROIT --http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/2...6/detail.html#Eight-year-old De’Janai Thomas of Inkster celebrated a very special birthday at the Children’s Hospital in Detroit, hoping she will live long enough to see more years ahead.
De’Janai’s mother De’Ashia Taylor said her daughter was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2008. Soon after she underwent chemotherapy she was diagnosed with H1N1 and then her heart suddenly became weak.
“She’s actually on a machine and it’s pumping her heart for her,” the mother said.
De’Janai’s is waiting for a heart transplant.
“They said the shortest time that anyone here has ever waited was 11 hours. The longest time was five and a half months. We’ve been waiting for two and a half months” Taylor said.
A fund has been set up to help with De’Janai’s medical expenses. People can make donations by going to www.cota.org.![]()
