WASHINGTON: Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday chided Americans for a moral breakdown he said had fueled the church’s child sex abuse scandal.
Pope Benedict, celebrating a stadium mass for 45,000 people, acknowledged that the United States pedophile priests scandal caused "indescribable pain and harm" to victims but asked Catholics to love their pastors.

Well, you can look at it as priests protecting pedophiles, or you can look at it as Americans protecting pedophiles. The clergymen were Americans, after all. I haven't researched the issue much - is there evidence that clergymen outside of the U.S. were involved in protecting these men while the abuse was happening (as opposed to trying to avoid liability, which came afterwards)?
The article continues on to quote him as saying: "What does it mean to speak of child protection when pornography and violence can be viewed in so many homes through media widely available today?"

Granted, I don't believe violent and sexual media creates pedophiles, but that doesn't seem to be what he's saying, here. Moreso, the opinion that this stuff is a problem (that may contribute in some way), is not an unreasonable perspective for the head of a church to hold. Scientific data isn't really their primary concern, after all.
Ive heard tons of cases of the cleregy doing the church switcharoo here in Mexico, Latin america and spain, prolly happens often in other catolic countries like italy and ireland tho to be frank I dont remember any cases of the bat. What im sure is its not a US exclusive thing at all, that is for sure.
The catholic church as a whole is scum and is a heaven for pedophiles, Im willing to bet many bush dodgers dont believe in that crap they preach at all and just chose it as a job to have easy acces to kids and ultra protection when they get caugth.
