Marva Davis ,loses two sons in single day

- A Portland mother says she lost two sons in one day - a 23-year-old who died of heart and kidney failure and a 25-year-old shot by police less than 12 hours later.

As Marva Davis made plans Monday for a double funeral, she told The Oregonian that her older son, Aaron Campbell, had been distraught over the death last Friday morning of Timothy Douglass.

Portland police fatally shot Campbell on Friday evening in the parking lot of a girlfriend's apartment after being called about a suicidal man with a gun.

Family and witnesses say Campbell was not carrying a gun; police would not confirm that. They did seize a pistol with four bullets from a closet of the apartment.

On Monday, police identified the officer who shot Campbell as Ronald Frashour, an eight-year veteran. Police say the officer fired only after Campbell began making statements to officers that they were going to have to shoot him and behaved in a threatening manner.

The shooting is under investigation

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Northeast Portland mother was mourning the loss of two children Tuesday.

Marva Davis' first son died Friday morning of heart and kidney failure. Just hours later, a second son died in an officer-involved shooting.

"It's hard, it's hard, it's hard," Davis said, holding back tears.

But Davis was all cried out Tuesday when she shared her story. She said her son, Timothy Douglass, 23, got a heart transplant 10 years ago.
One of the family members got a call and said, the police just shot Aaron and then I was just out of control," she said.

Marva said Aaron was killed in an officer involved shooting outside his girlfriend's Northeast Portland home. Officers believed he was armed, suicidal and possibly a danger to surrounding families. When Aaron didn't comply with orders, police shot him several times with a bean bag gun. When he still didn't comply, an officer shot him with a rifle.
Marva said she's cried and now she's trying to be strong for her family.

She said, while Timothy's death was expected, Aaron's was senseless. Marva said Aaron had gotten into trouble in the past, but he was turning his life around. He dreamed of becoming a lawyer.

Wonder whether Aaron had heard about his brother's death and decided he couldn't take it. If so, that's a horribly selfish thing to do to the officer/s involved.
